Is that true that PDA are illegal in Singapore ?

  Hi

  I'm a french man who is considering moving to singapore. Making my research on the country i saw stuffs that i found very surprising, at least for an European or a westerner point of view. One of them is the policy regarding public display of affection.

  I've read that it's illegal and there's a law against it and that if you are "caught" kissing or holding hand to your girlfriend/boyfriend you have fees to pay. Is this true? Is it apply or is it just "on paper"?

  Why is it shocking for singaporians to see a couple in love kissing each other or holding hands as far as it's not disrepectful for people surrounding them?

  A couple touching each other in public in kinda sexual way or eating each other mouth like if there was no tommorow would be seen as shocking and gross in europe too, so i'm just refering to the kind of pda normal couple do in public in almost every country in the world > tender kisses, holding hands, gentle gestures etc.

  As long as you are not showing your private parts, it is legal. Nope, we are not such a conservative country. Kissing, hugging, holding hands are perfectly okay, nobody will fine you for doing that.

  Is it shocking for me? No. You might offend conservative people though. Make your PDA quick and fast so that nobody will take photos of you and you end up like these people.

  Picture 1 and 3 are schocking (they are absolutely not pda but man/woman banging/having sex which is totally not the same), but what's wrong/schocking with photo 2 and 4? Why people take in picture such basic, unoffensive and worldwide accepted - since dozens of years - PDA?

  Yes, hugging, kissing, holding hands is alright. As long as it's has nothing to do with private parts in the publics areas

  Yes, in french schools it's totally allowed to kiss and hug our girlfriend/boyfriend (out of the class room of course), and it's not shocking anybody sorry to disapoint you (we live in a modern and developped country where, contrary to some countries, there are no dictatorship-like rules, and as we are modern and well educated, you'll never see students crossing the lines (making love, innapropriate gestures or doing like if they were alone) and if they do, guess what, they probably get banned of their school. But myself, like millions of other students whom had girlfriend/boyfriend at school, i was kissing and hugging my girlfriend between class rooms.

   

  And what's the link between being a father and watch my own daugther kiss her boyfriend (which is, as far as she's in a serious relationship, totally ok by the way, i'm not saddam hussein nor 90 years old mind) and general PDA? This shortcut has no sense at all, but anyway, maybe i didn't understand what you wanted to say in french.

  And i have absolutely no problem with being surrounded by couples in love hugging and kissing each other - i found that very beautiful and touching - as far as they do it in a respectful way (not eating each other mouth like nobody exist around them for example).

  Based on your replies and views french man, I believe you'll do fine in Singapore. Any country would greatly appreciate a mature n fine man like you. The fact that you went all the way to check even the most detailed things of our country shows you have the heart to be an excellent and respectful citizen. I am happy to welcome you here:) I'm sure we all are. Btw, picture 4 shows the woman reaching into the man's pants, if I'm not wrong.
