Understand the chinese, malay and tamil translations of signs, govt letters, street names are added to cater to the non-English-educated people in the 1970s, 1980s circa. By now, the 2010s, those people have mostly passed away or upgraded to be able to understand English now.
So why are we still having chinese, malay and tamil translations now? Don't tell me it's to cater to tourists, then we might as well include Japanese, Italian, French, German, Hindi, Sanskrit, Spainese, Nepalese, Vietnamese.......and then one simple street sign will be 10 metre long. One simple MRT announcement will take 10 minutes to complete.
As English is our main language, we should also make it known to tourists and immigrants to learn English before coming here as we won't be learning their foreign language to talk to them. We should be like US and other countries, only 1 main language.
we now only need tagalog
Putonghua, tagalog, hindi, bengali
no more malay, chinese, tamil

Depends on whether peranakans, eurasians, chinese, malay or indians hold political power in Singapore in the future.
So far in the history of Singapore republic, chinese, malays and indians have never held political power.
