n I think some lians also end up marrying d bormal guys n dun want to talk about their pasr anymore. Well u know our Asian societal mentality; boys can be Bengs in d past n it's ok, even cute n funny. But if gals r Lians, people think they r loose...
Also, the Lians (especially those born after the late 1970s) nowadays increasingly have higher education. I think those who end up the above scenario r usually those Lians who din finish their secondary education, working class family background plus from broken family background (all collectively led them to lower self esteem n lower level of support to get a better life).... =(

poly dropout means she still has quite a bit of education. She probably won't need to resort to sex work. Can be a tutor or work other jobs part time. Some of them went back to studies. :)

One Lian (who din finish her sec edu for various reasons) we used to know (I used to idolise her when I was 15yo, thinking she was so pretty, cute n popular - she was 19yo) had a divorce in her early 20s. She later fell in love with a 'normal' guy n for some reasons we could not understand, was so desperate to marry him. We don't like him at all, because he was so disrespectful, manipulative n cruel to her, often breaking up with her on a whim n only coming back to her when he needed 'company' (based on what she told us). N it was not as if she was lacking in suitors - she was still very beautiful n still had many guys going after her (but she also had very low self esteem due to her family-of-origin problems which led her to become a Lian in d 1st place). In the end, a close friend told me in confidence that that gal went to put him under a love spell. I don't know if that is true, but they later indeed got married. The last I heard, their marriage is and always has been fraught with conflicts. Now she mia le, so duno what happened to her le. Hope alls well with her n their child.

From d Lians whom I know, I observe there seem to be two types of Lians. The more hou mia Lians and the not so hou mia Lians. Hou mia as in they are born into overall better life circumstances n hence they still end up with good jobs, higher social status, good education, happy family of their own, we name it.
The not so hou mia Lians are those like that gal in my example: born into very unfavorable life circumstances n as a result find it very hard to get out of low paying, unskilled jobs n the chiongster lifestyle. Plus if they have a very chaotic family background, they may also end up marrying the type of men who replicate the family they aim to get out of. I'm not denying that there are many high flier Lians out there. What I'm saying is, on the other end of d spectrum, there are also many of the so called stereotypical long suffering, the 12 lotus type lians. Because this group of Lians usually don't use fb or much of d internet, they r more invisible to d world. Like Royston Tan 's movie 15, some people comment that the story is stupid n unreal because they have never seen this aspect of Singapore before.
I also know Bengs n ex Bengs of the type1 n type2. Type1 most of them work now in very high paying white collar jobs (although they used to b in street gangs, got into a lot of trouble with d law becos of gang fights), come from at least higher middle income n/or English speaking parents, r mostly married or dating 'normal' girls. N they typically don't like me to talk to them about their past anymore. They try to evade the conversation or feign ignorance with a joke.
Type2 Bengs are the ones who are either in low skilled blue collar jobs, or still in n out of prison. Also they typically from low educated, non English speaking n working class family. Although both type1 n type2 bengs n Lians often have family problems to start with (parent conflicts, parent working too hard communication break down, or emotional abuse etc), type1 bengs n lians becos of their higher level of positive life circumstances n support find it easier to grow a better life for themselves. Plus type2 lians n bengs often have more serious family issues eg parents who are drug addicts, both parents don't want them/can't take care of them etc... This is not just limited to Singapore. Everywhere around d world, there is massive result to show a person who comes from a family with higher income n/or educational level is more likely to have a better job n higher education than a similar someone.
If all d Lians have all become high fliers, who are the Lians who still in n out, who work in nightclubs as mummy or gal? ^_^
