My secondary ex school teacher is working on a project in Lombok and she was asking for cheap and simple ways to filter seawater into drinkable freshwater and for useable purpose.
Reverse Osmosis is out of the question
Solar Oven and Solar stills were thought of, but is there any way to do it in a large scale?
they are a fishing village of ~3000 and have only access to an abundance of seawater.
any ideas that are cheap and simple??
Desalination or distillation.

If I am not wrong Lifestraw is ok
Simple evaporation and condensation would suffice?
In addition, they get to use the remaining salt sediments for cooking too. Slow process though.
big ships would have this
