Actually, there's a trick to smiling at a girl whom you want to notice you. Don't give a full smile. It'l something like a half-smile, left or right side, depends on which side of your face you think is better. Head tilt down, and to the opposite side of the girl, making your chin point at her. Then do the half-smile.
The eyes also affect the outcome. If you give a girl that half-smile and your eyes are like slits, that'll make you look like a cheekopek. Practice this in front of a mirror. De-frown your eybrows by tilting the inner side of your eyebrows up, and the outer side down. Eyes not that wide, but try to look innocent. Good, now you look stoopid. No lah, it's called "puppy dog eyes".
Then position your head as instructed, and do the half-smile. There you go. It's a charmer, I tell you. It worked for me, not always, but most of the time..
Oh, and it works better if you have a dimple or two.. I should know, I've got one..
