Just a point to ponder.Why get a labtop?Is it really necessary?For that price,you can get yourself a desktop with better specifications.Just a suggestion though.

1 word of advice, do ask urself if u really need it for academic studies...so far all my friends use it to collect dust...
i now yr 2 liao, only time i need it is to present something as a group, 1 member of ur group have then can liao, somemore when the time comes, the tutor more likely let u all use his/her laptop, u all just bring the cd or diskette will do so as to save time. -
I am waiting for my desktop to die its natural death.
Dont need laptop for my studies right now...

ha, careful when buying loh, u don't really need a laptop, except to surf net...cos so far i see people use laptop is to surf net niah....use it to do work ? come on lah, dun lie to yourself...we have so many PCs located in both South and North spine...surely u can find one.. u do not need a laptop to do G168 computing, neither would u need it for Engineers & Society, neither would u need it for Comms Skills. my group got A- for Comm Skills, we didn't even brought a laptop through out the whole thing...
Don't spend un-necessary $ when u haven't start to earn... alot of freshies ignorant of wats in-store for them, then they ganna psycho-ed go buy, end up is white elephant.....no joke loh. starting of the term u will see people bring their new laptop go MLT there surf net lah blahblahblah to show off....after a few weeks all keep in the bag to collect dust...heh. i've been through 2 sems, i know laptop is redundant, dats why i encourage u all not to buy. i encourage buying of USB storage devices, it will come in very useful.
With easy access to Pentium 4 pcs with intranet/internet capabilities, u don't really need a laptop, unless u stay in hall...but its better off getting a PC too cos u can sell off its parts easily and u can upgrade if u want. -

Yup.There is no need for a labtop.Better to get desktop.Save $$, better specs at a lower price and easier to upgrade!

In your first couple of years in Uni,you won't really need a labtop.Laptops may be useful when you do your FYP.But even then,you can get a loan set from the school at absolute no cost.
So my conclusion,get one only when you can afford it and really need it.
