Singapore Prison Officer , A good career choice ?

  Prison job seems like a boring job where you faces criminals and addicts all day long and cut off from the outside world ... yet It can be challenging and fufilling to actually be able to help people get back on the right track . Most importantly, career advances are attractive. I am actually struggling whether to leave my monotonous office admin job to join the team and frankly speaking.. i need more advises. Can anyone share the pros and cons of taking Prison Officer as a career ? Tips as to a better chance to get the job ?Cheerios!

  I tried recently and duno the results yet ... its said that they will get back to you within 1 mth IF you are shortlisted. I hope so...

  you can try volunteer counseling...ask mcds or mha..nt too sure abt who to approach...

  Volunteer counselling ? You mean as in go MCDS or MHA to volunteer counselling ? But... what has it got to do with Prison Officer ?

  Yeah i wouldn't mind being a prison officer. I think you can get a lot of ego from the job which is self-fulfilling, plus you can torture the prisoners and bully them and you get paid for it. Very satisfying, especially if you wanna let out some frustration

  how u handle people with social/personal problems...guess interviewer also take into consideration....most prisoners dun end up there for nothing.
  
  MCDS or MHA might provide more info as to which body or association need mentors in helping ppl with social problems....
