Really , think about it ....Singapore just gets the reject 2nd class or 3rd class talents that cannot get into usa or europe for top jobs there. USA and europe get the top guns hence the brain drain phenomena. Bleh ...the rejects love singapore because everything is provided....those are the ones who cannot make it big in their countries and have to look elsewhere to make it big. So we sacrifice our own to give those people a chance in our turf...that's clever*GAGS*
it's very hard to attract the elites as the competition for their expertise is very intense. however, i believe that Singapore has already been constantly marketing itself out in hope that we would be able to draw some of these top guns to our turf. However, becoz of this marketing and relatively lax regulations, we attract a lot of cons and this is definitely undesirable.
only way is that Singaporeans prove themselves to be better than these fakes who invade our economy.
I dun think that Singaporeans were sacrificed in any sense except that they must learn that ang mos r not at all better than us in anyway and that we would have to fight harder for our own positions and prove that our capabilities are better than them, yet at the same time maintaining a pose that we welcome the elite foreign talent, not those who don't make the cut.
Here because of economics and demand for their expertise? With all due respect , HAHAHAHHAHAHAH. Why are some singaporeans migrating? I know that some of those fellow Singaporeans in Australia are fed up of "foreign talents" in Singapore, those foreign talents talk alot but produce next to nothing . Some of my fellow men are making it good now in Australia but in Singapore they could have been retrenched by now. Those are not quitters ...those are local talents who were never given a chance . So don't tell me that foreign talents are better than singaporeans because I know some Singaporeans are better than those lousy 2nd /3rd class foreign talents.
then we gotta prove it. dun tell me no chance.
chances are not given, they are fought for
Oh ya my dad says some top level executive ang mohs in singapore are fun to deal with . Their written english and their reasoning are lousy (bearing in mind they come from english speaking countries) - worse than a jc kid, so he enjoys correcting them in front of everyone. Best of all , they talk alot but produce nothing......all are just empty air but people follow them because they can talk. When u ask them questions about their work...suddenly u get a run around. Those are the talents singapore wants...those are the talents Singapore gets.
Take the chance and prove u're better.
too bad all the foreign talent around me are really foreign talents. =( no chance for me TT
It just saddens me that my own country won't look after our own Singaporeans by OUR birthright . Other countries look after their own , nurture their own FIRST while ours concentrate on FT first. U can disagree with me on that but this sentiment is shared by people I know ...some singaporeans and some ex singaporeans in Australia. We can all say let's change the policy....now that is not going to happen - we can blame it on the government , we can blame it on companies ...but at the end of the day , if u can't beat the policy , u use the policy in ur own way.
wad policy? everything has their loopholes, just gotta exploit it. if the company u're working for intends only to hire foreign talents, set up a rival one and employ only Singaporeans and beat em.
I do believe that Singapore's education is one of the best in the world curriculum-wise and it in its sense is already helping to nurture talents in Singapore. If u feel that you're not given the chance, fight for it, or even better, MAKE it.
What Singapore has now is a brain drain ....the so called "quitters" are actually the ones who make it overseas and some don't come back because of the attractive working conditions. Australia has the same problem with what they call a brain drain on their side ...the good ones run to USA to work and do well there but they don't call them "quitters" ...the australians who make it overseas are still called proudly Australians and they do try to entice them back
Singapore has too little people compared to Australia therefore we have much more to lose when a brain drain occurs.
However, I believe that people are free to make their own choices and their choices should therefore be respected. Labelling them is as good as telling them we do not want them back and ostracising them and making them feel as if they are not part of the nation. This would no doubt make them more determined to not care about Singapore once they leave. A Singaporean can still live overseas and still feel about their homeland
The way I see it .Singapore can continously employ mercenaries but ultimately if Singapore doesn't train our own to compete on a global level then Singapore will always perpetually depend on foreign talents .Read the history of Malacca , the kingdom died out because of mercenary fighters against a foreign invader: The portuguese....keeping in mind in the modern context of Singapore's situation will be like that but probably we will be controlled by foreign companies and foreigners .So much for economic defence . You can disagree with me on that but you cannot deny history pretty much repeats itself
yesss yesshh history is cyclic in nature...
So what's gonna happen if Singaporeans don't want to care about Singapore?
especially those living overseas?
