Need help on how to create a forums..

need help on you fatties to help Ashley..shes doing her final year project now on Forums and trying to get some ideas on how to create a forum..
she jus got a book on ASP and still studyin on how to apply that on creating a forums like this forum..
you all got any idea or any friends thats studying in IT field or got any knowledge of IT that can gif her some tips???

No need use ASP lah,you can save yourself a lot of trouble by using those freeware forum creation program like ikonboard used in Sgclub or UBB which is freeware using in Sgforums,but you need to know a bit of CGI,ehehe

You can d/l it from these sites,or you can goto any search engine(I prefer google.com) and type free forums and see what else is there,ehehe

Ashley, I reccomend you to goto whatever asp building sites to look for sample codes, etcetc, look for enough ideas to create one.(hopefully you've done enough of that coz @ this point of time, if it is not programming and report writing you are doing, God Bless)
I can find so much of php coded sample sites is because I'm doing PHP and MYSQL with javascript. And PHP's free and MYSQL's free and javascript's free and Linux's free and Apache's free. Therefore support for these platforms and softwares are horrifying abundunt. Thus, explaining the easiness to find codes, it is everywhere.
I reckon you'll need a password generator script for signing up or you can let users put their own password. Asp has no send mail functions which is very important when users lost their password and need the forum server to send either
[List=1]
[*]A new password generated by the password generation script.
[*]The original password they have set themselves.
[*]Forget all the above and just give them the hint they set when registering.
Remember, ASP do not support mail function, so you have to find addon components and install them etcetc. If you see any website that runs on ASP, they usually rely on those components or CGI they have to pay for using money to create send mail functions.
Because of this stupid flaw, I changed to PHP, though I admit its too late for you to change now.
You can get the mail component for ASP from me, (I've downloaded it but never got the time to try it out) or go to these 2 sites
