'SAVE JBJ' POLITICAL RALLY
"Come experience the Cheng San magic!"
Date: 28th April 2001
Time: 7pm to 10pm
Venue: Yio Chu Kang Stadium
Urgent Appeal
In order to have a successful event, the public's co-operation is needed when attending the rally this Saturday at Yio Chu Kang Stadium at 7pm. .
Please use public transport to get to the stadium which is next to the Yio Chu Kang MRT station. This is to avoid traffic congestion as well as the problem of parking as a large number is expected to turn up for this rally.
The members of the public are advised not to bring objects that could be used as missiles or weapons. Marshalls would be posted at the entrances and elsewhere to monitor the situation with the help of CISCO officers.
As this is a one-of-a-kind event in Singapore's history the success of this rally and any future such events hinges also on the full co-operation of those attending!

Attended the rally that night. There were about 1000-1500 people, didn't expect many to care anyway. Bought JBJ's book and as well as the Shame magazine by Think Centre. Oh, and a T-Shirt too. Listened to speeches made by various members of the Worker's Party, National Solidarity Party (I think), Singapore Democratic Party and Think Centre. Final conclusion by dear old Joshua Benjamin Jeyaretnam himself. I managed to get his autograph, and see him face to face for the first time. Can't say I know much about him. I was born too late, and by the time I knew what politics was, a lot of things had passed. But I'm going to read everything very carefully. And I'm going to get James Gomez book on self-censorship too. Always had a sneaky feeling that something doesn't feel quite right, but had no idea what it was. Maybe I'll find out.

all along i think workers party is not bad..
but i dunno how thinkcentre somehow got into the picture and wants to make a stand..
i read a few issues of thinkcentre's magazine (yes! they actually published their own mags...most of the content can be found in the website though)
the writers/editors are mostly degree (if not,higher)holders..and they relli have power in the language and ideas... im mus say..they are quite dictative..(although i wonder if those articles were personally edited or read by JBJ or gomez)
i mus say tt they are pretty bold..
anyway..a democratic govt need to have certain alternative voices...
rite...i sense sumthing spooky oso...
i been following thinkcentre and their activities via their websites and mags (spotted them when i was researching on my term paper on politics penetration on the net last yr)
all along i tot they kept pretty low profile...but dunno why suddenly pop out for election this year...and make such a huge scene...

Yah yah, I read it in the papers today also. I didn't know that NSP has seven candidates to spare. Surprise surprise. Finally the opposition parties are going to gang up together to whack PAP, HA HA HA!!!

Nothing strange mah. During the 97 election, NSP also sent 7 candidates to take part in 1 GRC and 2 single constituencies. All the while the oppositions come to compromise, but I doubt they will be able to whack even for the coming few elections unless major changes take place.

I agree with KTE. Younger generation can't be bothered. Most people just simply said :"we are living so well now, why bother to change anything?". Some will said :"they had been doing so well for decades, why bother to change?".
