I like "In the mood for love", "Chun guang zha xie", " Amelie", "black hawk down". Korean movies also not bad.. very interesting storyline for their love story..
One recommendation..local film maker Royston tan.. go look for his short films..very nice n artistically done.. there's one about ah bengs called "15" i think.. very funny n nice treatment to e film. -

if you like that I recommend Maison Ikkoku. It's quite old but very funny, sweet, romantic, sad, happy.
