Is "Dear" A Sensitive Word Among Friends Of Opposite Sex?

I've often heard (or read) of guys who use the word "dear" when referring to female platonic friends [color=blue](not girlfriend)[/color].
To me, I think the word "dear" is *special* and should be reserved for my gerger only.
I tend to use the word "girl" instead.
What are your views? How do you refer to your platonic friends?

if the dear is meant to be a joke...........then it's fine..........hehe
i only call frens by name or uncle auntie mama whatever rubbish.........but not those darling dear stuff lah......

yoz... i dun c addressing normal ger friend as dear is too much?
i address any ger i noe as dear.. its juis another friendly gesture...

To some, it might seems rather sensitive but to others it might seem quite casual as a form of addressing each other as in close friends...

if calling girls call girls dear its ok mah...
tat type or ang mo pai...
if guy call guy dear then something is wrong... we all living in 2002 liao coming 2003, calling dear to frendz its ok lah.. just don call too many times or follow by a hug n hopefully follow by a *muackz* then its too much..

Maybe everyone can try calling their friend dearor darling the next time you see them. Then see what their reaction would be like. Maybe the first word that comes out would either be "huh?" or "You siao ah?".

yes i duno anyhw call ppl all tis. . .u all knw me so long since when i got call u all dear darling or wadever? except gers!!!
