Dear, shuttles don't have ejection seats...Originally posted by J'da:got this kind of news.. how can i stop worrying about u, storm..
I stand corrected then...Originally posted by eurofighter:Shuttles have ejection seats. Just that at that speed and altitude, the crew cannot eject.
actually, makes me wonder, why do they install ejection seats on shuttles? so they can punch out if the pilot screws up the landing? or maybe on the ascent phase... in case something goes wrong like with Challenger... *ponder*Originally posted by eurofighter:Shuttles have ejection seats. YUP.... That kinda FORCE alone is enough to tear you apart...Originally posted by eurofighter:Shuttles have ejection seats. Just that at that speed and altitude, the crew cannot eject.
dunno ah, i never go do my homework on shuttle ejection seats...Originally posted by zoik:whoever said shuttles have ejection seats is wrong.
columbia used to have just two ejection seats during her development phase.
these were replaced by standard seats when she became used for normal space flight ops.
besides, half the crew are seated below the flight deck with no such means available ot them even if ejection seats were fitted fo rthe crew on the flight deck.
and yes, they would have been killed anyway if they had ejected at that velocity.
ask a pilot if he/she feels anythign when they eject at substantially lower speeds...
Wonder if SHIPS have ejection seats or not...Originally posted by Storm:dunno ah, i never go do my homework on shuttle ejection seats...
but I do know that getting blasted out of an aircraft is not an experience one would want to try again... Know someone who ejected out of a Hunter aircraft...
