i ever adviced her b4: "you are not as pretty as those ladies out there, pls dun set 2 high expectation..." Guess wat i got in return? She glared at me and denied having that kind of expectation...

Truly Agreed on these sentences, got a friend's wife was used to be his good friend for >10yrs. Both of them had been stirling around the CLOCK b4 they get settle down that admitting they belong to each other.

As for me, i personally think that its due to all the perception, stereotyping and biasness of an individual to the opposite sexes.
i dont deny that i do hv guy frens who go ard "cheating" women in their cars, money or even fame and i do hv ger frens that purposely go MS juz to spot for the right guy to spend his money and later dump him in the process or even be more materialistic then anybody else..... maybe if u wanna blame, then blame it on the society then. its the standard of living that changes many of us to be blinded by money(not love).
some ppl might juz because he/she wanna lead a more relex and less trouble life by getting a higher qualification or richer partner, who dont want? if given a choice, who dont want to juz sit at home or had a "Own Time Own Target" life as compared to a working life and in the end of it, u realised that u donno wat are u working so hard all your life for?
Of cos there are still ppl who preferred to live a more simple and relex life..... by earning juz enuff to support himself/herself or their family.... and to lead a simple and peaceful life with all the basic necessity..... and "enjoy" the fruit of love that they could get? It do hv frens(be it guy or ger) whom are like wat evererin said.... whom are less material and thoughtful for their partners.....
BUT dont u forget...... u might be happy or even unhappy leading the simple life and the same goes for the materialistic life?

Trust me - most people fall in love with the same type of girl/guy regardless of how long you remain single, etc - that is because people attracted to *that* sort of people - the negative/postive aspect that unconsciously draws you into the pits of love.
For example: Woman who never loved themselves (or think lowly of themselves), always find guys who abuse them, treat them like shit, etc or simply has certain negative traits that most people cannot accept it - possessiveness to the point of choking for example.

My ex barely pass his O's, and I'm doing my poly dipolma. While he's working, I asked him to get a licence, NOT because I wan him to drive me around... but its because he'll be able to work as a taxi driver if he ever loses his current job. U call that materialistic ??!!!
I never ask him to pay for things that are way too expensive, all because I wan, not need it... All I ask from him, was to spend time with me, to lent me a listening ear when I need one, to care, to truely love me....

i feel that it is the majority of gals that is materialistic, but the majority of the minority of thoses who are not seems to be in this forum.... hahaa..... anyway just to give my 2 cents view, i also have lotsa gal frds who wan to have big cars to drive them ard... one of my frds even confessed to me that her dream is to find a rich OLD man and marry him . N most of gals also tell me that they also prefer guys to have cars and rich, though they are quick to tell me that they dun mind plp who dun have.... to me.. singaporeans gals are mostly materialistic driven, and when they end up with the wrong guy somewhere down the road.... but who is rich and have flings behind ur back.... u have only urself to blame................ for being too blind when ur young...

Since you fell in love with women that seek for materialistic comfort -could you even blame anyone. You *MADE* your *OWN* choice to love someone and since you make that decision - do not rant and label every women in the same bad light.
And how do you define 'simple?'
Woman who doesn't smoke, drink, club, cares for you and relationship, doesn't seek material comfort, works dutifully or best be house wife and take care of kids?

Summary: Don't generalise everyone - because in the end, you will be left behind while everyone is ahead of you. If you choose to chase/love a woman and she is materialistic, *improve* and *enlighten* her. If she can't improve and alter this negative traits - this shows how much you meant to her. So since its so insignificiant, TRY WOOING SOMEONE ELSE.
People always try to make others fit into themselves - which is sadly a rare occurance for a perfect slot, but you can be adaptable to this society, if thats what you want to be - we should always look into ourselves because if we are sincere and genuine - I can guarantee someone around in this world, *will* appreciate that kind of character that we have.
The more you complain and condemn, the more love wouldn't come to you. Trust me - because simply nobody fits your bill, even if there is one - she is attached, married or doesn't even like you. Widen yourself and you will be surprise from the number of potential ladies you have missed out when you were so shallow in your views.

if speaking about the topic of materialistic - perhaps you are not, but what about other aspect that isn't mention or you didn't know about your boyfriend or most importantly yourself?
Remember, regardless of whatever people may say or generalise, as long as you know that you can live up to your conscious and most important, to your own standard - who gives a sh|t about what anybody says?
P.S: Good guys, good woman are ALL OVER THE WORLD, only people who widened their views are able to spot them. Noticed only those who are narrow and shallow in their view can't spot them - therefore think about this: Why others can do it so easily?
