what is engine brake?

  hi guys , who passed the driving and can u tell me what exactly is engine brake?

  engine brake is to use the lowering of gears to brake the car instead of using the brake of the car.
  
  Example, if you are travelling at five gear.. your car is fast, if you change it to 4th or 3rd gear... once you use that gear.. you will feel the car being slow down as the lower the gear the tuning is slower thus causing the car to slow down.. . thus an engine break

  i have qns on engine break...
  1) does it wear out engine faster?
  2) does it consume fuel since the rev increase?

  then how about dun put anything on the pedals? just let the car roll .....

  Engine brake onli applys for manual cars...It is used to effectively reduce the speed of yr car to prevent accident....To slow down or wat,its advicible to use foot brakes....changing of foot brakes is cheaper and also changing of the whole gear box will be more EXP lor...
  
  Engine brake is whereby...
  Lower gear have a bigger area(a radius of a circle)
  Higer gear have a smaller area..
  But lower gear is slower spinning(The circle spin and carry the wheels gear together so its moves....bigger make it more power but less speed lor)
  Higher gear smaller but very fast spinning lor..then its grip of the wheel gear is much smaller so less power....
  
  So when engine brake is perform....
  4th gear to 1st gear(eg.)
  Then The fast spinning wheel gear will be then force to slow down rapidly by the big circle of the lower gear and thus reducing the speed very rapidly..thus known as engine brake...

  easy..... don't step on the accerlator, clutch or brake..... the car will slow down eventually.........if u step on the brake, the car will slow down faster,,,,,,,,Engine brake is to allow the car to slow down using on its own
