  I think it's because people used to chew tobacco in the past. This makes their mouth water all the time, and they have to spit constantly. Just a guess.

  i think its terrible actually i suddenly remember something from few years back
  there was this ah beng sitting at the bus stop, then i saw spittin saliva ok SALIVA, should be drooling actually he just kept doing that for like man 5-10mins. I mean wtf? do you get some kind of unatural kick from it or something
