Please..let me make myself clear here...It's not that the people here have a poor command of english. In every minutes and every seconds of your life, if you're always that serious, you're really one damn boring guy..no offence here..and just for your information, you yourself mentioned in the last post that you don't have a poly friend because of their poor command of english..Just bear in mind that there's always someone who's better than you in this world...grow up man!!you're too arrogant..this little earth of ours here does not have enough space for the kind of people like you...and I'm just trying to be kind to you...that's why I ask whether you have a mirror at home..that's just to remind you to look after your own attitude, because I believe that you have a serious attitude problem obstructing you to be more mature...when you're in one different country, you RESPECT and you try to fit yourself in it...that's how human live..and that's how human survive for eons!!Originally posted by summerain22:No, I'm not saying that u have to speak american or brititish english, all i'm saying that it's a turn off!! and no offense, but i did not say anything about u, nor insult u, yet u have to resort to saying "do u have a mirror?" how civilised is that? sheesh.. grow up!! learn to take criticism with a pinch of salt..
and for your information, i have nothing against poly students, i was just voicing my opinion. One of my best friends happens to be from ngee ann polytechnic.
and, it is a bit hard to understand what some people are trying to say.. especially when its not grammatically sound. that's all i was trying to get at. so pls dont resort to personal insults.

Ok, i've been reading a few posts and I just couldn't help but add something. A lot of people have been complaining that JC people are proud and stuck-up. I don't think that's the case, I think the only reason why some feel that way is that they feel intimidated by the fact that they can actually speak decent english!! There is a communication barrier between them because MOST people speak chinese or chinese mixed with english in polys. And I'm not defending them cos I'm in a JC, I'm actually from an international school.
If you read the replies, it's soo hard to find one that has correct grammar!! They type exactly like how they speak, and its such a turn off when a guy can't even get a proper english sentence out of his mouth!! That's my opinion anyway. [b]I don't hang out with people from a poly because of this, but i do have a few friends from JC. We just don't speak the same language. I really cannot stand their so-called 'singlish'. It's not impressive at all and sounds terrible.

WHat has speaking proper english got to do with being serious? Completely nothing. It's just a way of life, there's no connection at all. I don't mean it like you have to constantly remind yourself to speak proper english, just be yourself!! And i'm saying that the way some people talk just annoys me, that's all, because it's really ahrd to understand. And yes, generally I don't have friends from polys, only this one guy because i've known him for ages. Are you implying that JC people are unfriendly? Fine, think that way if you like, u can carry on living in your little world. You may think i'm arrogant, so be it, it doesn't affect me at all. excuse me...not all the poly student thinks that the jc peoples are 'stuck up'...having this topic is to do some sort of a survey whether most people perfer what type of guys as friends...that depends on the real life experience one has...huh...you are one big piece of hard rock...that means stuborn, just for your information..so if you respect the people here in singapore..then you should also respect their culture and them for what they are...what makes singaporean different from others is their singlish..so if you can't stand it...buzz off and mind your own business...the usage of grammar or any @#$%ing things here has nothing to do with you,has it??If you really can't stand it...just don't visit this web page....I'm out of words already...because you're one stuborn donkey!!fine...I won't want to die earlier and kill all my brain cells wasting time on the kind of uncivilized moron like you...Originally posted by summerain22:WHat has speaking proper english got to do with being serious? And no, I don't think i have any maturing to do, that's just my opinion, so you stick to yours and i'll stick to mine. I do respect the people in singapore, all i mean is that i find it hard to understand what some people are trying to say!! is that so wrong?! if u want to talk about sterotyping, then poly people are doing it as well, cos they're labelling all JC students as 'stuck-up'. they're not stuck up, they're just different, they speak differently, etc.
not all are like tat ma...Originally posted by nefnuy:I don't understand why Poly guys dun like JC pple....
Hmm...
Poly pple think they are more funky?? Oh really, never heard of that... I know more of them have ear rings and coloured hair, smoke... Speak singlish.. Fun?? Maybe...
Aiyah, in the end girls still go for suave guy, good looking, gentlemenly, preferably well to do...
Just because i don't agree with u does not mean i'm stubborn. Don't be so ignorant. And yes, i do respect the people, and i know that singaporeans are identified by their singlish. Just so you know, i went to the UK once and someone asked me where i'm from. I said 'singapore'. And he went "Ooohh so you speak the donkey english." I was like,"what do you mean?!?!" and he said,"They sound like donkeys, they are always like 'har' and 'hor'.." I was soo emabarrssed to hear that that is what they think of singlish!! It's so uncivilised!! So you guys can just carry on..Originally posted by HystericalDustdevil:excuse me...not all the poly student thinks that the jc peoples are 'stuck up'...having this topic is to do some sort of a survey whether most people perfer what type of guys as friends...that depends on the real life experience one has...huh...you are one big piece of hard rock...that means stuborn, just for your information..so if you respect the people here in singapore..then you should also respect their culture and them for what they are...what makes singaporean different from others is their singlish..so if you can't stand it...buzz off and mind your own business...the usage of grammar or any @#$%ing things here has nothing to do with you,has it??If you really can't stand it...just don't visit this web page....I'm out of words already...because you're one stuborn donkey!!fine...I won't want to die earlier and kill all my brain cells wasting time on the kind of uncivilized moron like you...
well i totally agreed with u...not becoz i wa from poly k....Originally posted by IamAngeline:Seriously I prefer Poly guys? Y?
Cos I find Poly guys tend to be more mature than those JCs~
What do u think?~
Originally posted by summerain22:And why are you guys so proud of singlish when your own government isn't?! the singaporean government has been encouraging ppl to speak correctly, that's the reason why Phua chu kang was taken off air a while ago remember? See, it's things like this that pisses me off!! What an ignorant remark.. stereotyping everyone.. geez...Originally posted by antoh:jc students are f**ked up
Agreed. It doesn't matter whether you come out of poly or JC. Whats most important is your intrinsic selfOriginally posted by wuming78:come on.. everyone is entitled to their own opinions... and in this kind of forums agreeing to disagree will surely do alot to lessen the flaming and all that that has been happening. people really have to learn to tolerate and respect other people's views no matter how different they may be. we can stand up for what we believe in, but putting others down in the process and hurling insults does not help at all.
that said, perhaps we can try to examine why people bear such mindsets and stereotypes? its really got to do with environment and age. language as well as some has pointed out. but in the end, when you are older and working perhaps when you are 20 odd 30 years old, does anyone care whether you came from jc or poly or private institution? your employers will only be interested in your performance and work attitude. and that is about everything we need to contend with for the rest of our lives, not whether we received jc or poly education.
i was from a jc 8 years old, but circumstances are that i went to ns, and from bmt all the way to i ord, i was with poly guys and i worked with poly guys. in fact i was the only recruit and only cadet with a jc background then. but i had no trouble with my frens. and they have no trouble with me at all too, even in the beginning. i have ord already and we are still good friends and we meet up quite frequently too.
so at the end of the day, does it matter where you came from? if you are a nice person, does it matter whether you came from a jc or a poly? of course that applies too if you are a rotten egg. these are all for the people around you to judge. where you came from shouldnt affect how you see others and how others see you right?
so perhaps we can all try to ask ourselves why we harbour such thoughts about jc or poly people. ask yourself rationally and maybe you will realise you were making unfair generalisations about them.
so perhaps we can all stop the flaming here? its sad that alot of good topics end up with flames thrown all about and the original idea and intention of the topic was totally lost.
simmer down guys! why lose temper and kill brain cells like this?
