i was thinking that if it was the first date, i wouldn't want to 'scare her away' cos some girls may find flowers n stuff a bit too fast for them to handle.
i had this problem with my current gf. the first time i tried asking her out and when she realised it was going to be only 2 of us she seemed to freak out and went "what?!?! then it's like a date leh!!?!?"
