Why? Because ROC (Kuo Min Tang is the first party in ROC) was formed in 1911, so according to the ROC calender, 1981 becomes 1970 (minus 11 years).
So now is the year 2003, but it is the year 1992 in ROC calender.
Btw, I'm not a Taiwanese, I just know a little bit of Taiwan history and also from watching Taiwan TV shows, that's how I figure out. -
