Many say not much choice in voting, I wanna ask what u want yr MP to be?
We need more voice in the parliament not to put up shelter walkway!
What lack in our voter is to look far a head, price increase will never come down. but if u move house the shelter will not be with u.
This increase will not be the last one but more to come. Company and shops will increase not 2% on price of goods/service but 20% or more, our daily expenses will increase.
I rather they increase one time to 10% once and for all, taking a plate of chicken rice as example, 2yrs ago $2 and after 2% gst increase it become $2.5, now 2% increase will become $3. I know some will say already $3, yes I am saying example. the point is every increase will be not 2% price increase but a one time 50cent increase.
In long run, more company will want to charge the GST rather than absorb them. More excuse for them by saying "Oh, fuel price increase, oh, I need to pay my supplier GST..." this is where gahment cannot control. whether is 2% or 20% they suka suka give u a price u also LL. -

Your goal is to make sure that the less-privileged get net benefits from this rise in GST. That is to say, the benefits of them getting surpluses and lower interest rates outweigh the cost of the rise of GST.
But in the first place, how do you know exactly how much to give out such that there will be a net benefit in the first place? The only thing you can do is to take the average expenditure of a lower-income household, calculate the rise in expenditure due to the GST hike alone and adjust the help packages accordingly.
But the law of averages tells us that there will be some households which fall below the average and others which go above the average. There will be those households which will benefit more and those that will benefit less. Those households that benefit more basically benefit at the expense of those who lose out from the GST hike.
And taking average values does not account for occasions when spending patterns suddenly change; e.g. when the family breadwinner suddenly dies or when some lucky family strikes 4D.
So does increasing GST across the board make things more egalitarian? I don't think so. I only see some winning out at the expense of others. This is what happens when you increase regressive taxes which burdens the poor more than the rich.
I might have believed this fella better if they introduced a tier system in accordance to what Bear proposed (essential items get taxed less than luxury items), but I would still have my reservations about it. -
