Earnings of Singapore Pools!! Approx. S$5 billion per year!!

Singapore Pools doesn't produce an annual report regarding it's earnings in the gambling industry. Anyway I have managed to get the information from another source and worked it backwards. The information might not be that accurate, but at least it gives a ball park figure of their earnings. It's around S$5 billion every year. They make S$5 billions which is 5,000 x S$1 million, they only give very little out to charity. Since it's inception in 1968 (38 years), they have given out S$1.5 billion, which pales in comparison to what they make a year.

One would also call to question, where does the revenue generated from Singapore Pools end up (eventually to Totalisator Board, then to the Ministry of Finance under the privy of the Finance Minister). The net profits would be maybe around afew billions, since the Singapore Pools does not provide an annual report on it's earnings and the Totalisator Board does not either. How does Singaporeans account for the billions that goes into Singapore Pools every year?
It's a monopolistic public gambling institution operating in secrecy, when secrecy is not needed. I thought illegal gambling dens are the ones who should be operating under secrecy. -

its a secret cookie jar it seems...i think the estimate wont be perfect as the Singapore pools also fund infrastructure projects like Esplanade.Nevertheless, maurizio13 did a good job..
The truth is all these additional money must be hidden from public eye so that no one can used it to oppose tax hike like GST. I wont be surprised if they have lots more hidden cookie jars.
For example, the land the govt seized. There was a report that a small plot of land which govt seized from the public company for 4 million is worth 100 Million today.

If we multiply it by all the land forcibly acquired from the public, how much wealth did the govt take away from the citizens? How many billions do you think are all the other seized land worth today? All these seized land can be a huge source of rental income as well as sales income from 99 years lease to 85% of its citizens.

Why the heck blame the government when it is the fault of all those fools who spend money every week on 4D, Toto etc, despite the fact that they will lose more money than they get?

It more than amazes me, with all the monies the gov makes through Singapore Pools, they still clammer for higher and higher salaries!
I feel the word GREED, would not suffice to describe them...! -

[What a shame to look for tourist dollar by such means, its totally demeaning for a First World Society . Soon the gov, will take over all the prostitute dens in Geylang and run it , 'cos most of our Ah Peks are splurging their CPF on prostitutes in Batam & Bintan. No problem in getting foriegn " Talents" for this kind of job.
It will be considered another service industry, and will create more jobs for singaporeans,working as pimps and bouncers.
Or a more descent word " Security Personel"]
Maybe in the future, the government will go into the prostitution business.
Next time, Ah Loong will be called Ah Long. -
