Girls should be made to serve SAF too

Girls can contribute.
They can be nurses, we have a serious need for nurses. Now a lot of nurses are foreign workers.
They can be child care givers.
They can take on intelligence , driving , logistics positions in the SAF.
Girls always want equality, fine, how about serving SAF? -
Agreed.... can be nurse or other admin role lah... then they will understand the meaning of LAN LAN.. do anything wrong also can go DB and future gone..

aiya...some women want all the benefits with none of the hard work...hide behind the two words "gender equality"...ask them join the DXO sua...
but we NEED female medics. Seriously. Makes getting IVed and stitched up that much more bearable. -

Well, the older women can do the job right? Let the young Singaporeans serve the country irregardless of gender. Its great for national unity and not to mention that the guys will not be disadvantaged by the fact that they have spent 2 years (used to be 2 and a half not so long ago) for the country instead of on themselves like their female counterparts.

lets c..if there is a real war out there..many gal would rather stay indoor behind the front line..beside..dont forget thoese gal that freak out at the sight of roaches/blood..and how many will actually freak out under the chaotic situtation of the war..

They should do it so that they understand more about national service. Heck it doesnt even have to be 2 years.....6 months or 1 year is enough.
At least they will know what to do in times of war. I mean right now i doubt they would know what to do. And where to go. -

If war comes half of SG's population i.e. the women, would not be able to contribute to the defence of the country.
Besides, a stint of NS at 18 would be the right time to give them a very good attitude adjustment and character building. And also instill a much-needed sense of loyalty to the country in them.
Combat training should be very rudimentary and less strenuous. All they need is to know how to shoot a rifle well and throw a grenade etc. We don't really need them for combat roles for now.
But all of them should be first class nurses. In war there will be lots of civilian and military casualties.
If every able-bodied male in SG is a soldier and every able-bodied female is a nurse, then we'll truly have total defence. -
Interesting disscussion - some comments - NS does not mean military service, women can serve in civil service as well, eg in hospitals.
There were a number of countries that had women serving NS during the cold war. Currently, Israel is one significant case, whereby women serve 2 years of NS, unless they are married or can prove religous reasons not to serve. There are no reservist for women though.
Even Malaysia has girls doing NS. -

yah...let them have a "taste".....and see whether they wanna be so picky and choosy and materialistic...girls always complain our men are this and that, foreigners are better...when war comes, they are the first one to get evacuated out...leaving our guys with the short end of the stick. I think the message is, the guys have been already shafted by the gov...the least you people can do is show some form of recognition.
