Hi i am currently a year 2 student at ngee ann poly, heard that the work market is very bad. Kinda worried that i cannot get a job, when i graduate. Very worried as i come from a very poor family and my parents expect me to shoulder on the burden of the whole family. Heard that the economic crisis will come into full bloom soon.. will i be able to find a job when i graduate? i am from the engin side...

When the economy goes into crisis.. it doesn't matter if you graduate from poly, JCs or Uni, all will be affected.
The problem .. when that happens.. degree holders will start competing with lower level graduates (Poly or JC) for the same job. Poly/JC graduates will have it harder as competition becomes more intense.
If you are thinking about dropping out of your studies.. I suggest you don't. Just lower your expectations of a job prospect for now. And continue to strive towards getting your paper qualifications. Economy goes in cycles.. so by the time the situation improves.. you will not be left behind.
Good luck.
when is TS graduating?
only year 2 student leh.... Course should take 3 years right?
By 2010, the economy should look better.
You can find a job, unfortunately you might not be able to be too choosy.![]()
you ish want to consider signing on? police, Army or Navy?
year 2 means still got 2 years till grad? if so don't worry chances are economy will be recovering by then. barring exceptional circumstances
there will be jobs for you, but only whether do you want to take it up.
u still need to serve 2yrs of NS after you grad from poly right?
By that time..it will be another 3yrs before u join the working force..so relax 1st...
Haiz.
Times are so bad now.
Might get worse this year. ![]()
Ai yo... still got Army to sign on mah... ![]()
there will be jobs
but u need some luck
and cannot hiam this thiam tt
so don't skip classes and do well lor .....
D,D,D,D,D,D isn't gonna get you anywhere .... ![]()
maybe a few weeks before u graduate, u can start hunting for jobs alr. the faster u hunt for jobs, the sooner u can find a job.
learn to be optismistic an you will live to be a happier person. You will only graduate in 1 year time so take it easy. Even if it really is a bad time when you graduates, there's really nothing much you can do, so be happy and learn to take things in its stride
Remember your asking salary, any FT can undercut you by more than 1k, and do the same thing you do, no need to pay CPF somemore.
Who do you think sounds more attractive to the employer?![]()
Die. I too am a poly student. But still have 5 years to enter workforce.
Hopefully, the market would be better then.
If really cannot, then become ah long runner with my dad's retirement fund (:
5 years... unless there's a repeat of the 2003 downturn => which might lead to a downturn in 2013...... else the probability should be quite low...
