Keep the lawyer's letter and don't respond to it.

As others have pointed out, what the boss did is technically illegal. A lawyer's letter is nothing; what he needs is a court order, and I seriously doubt the boss would bother going to court over this matter (which would probably be thrown out by the judge anyway).

That said, please go get some free legal advice. I'm sure your local RC or CC has free legal counselling sessions; do your homework and find out about these sessions.

No need any free advices, just PM me, I call them up and tell them off, settled. Case closed
