Wonder if they are installed with catalytic converter now as training buses & at Sth Africa?Originally posted by sir_peanuts:actually no, those in the photos are not the ones sold to hong kong.
in 1992 SBS sold these atlanteans to china, and they passed by hk to attend the bus rally 1992 before heading on to the mainland.
in 1993, when hk's citybus acquired the franchise of 26 new routes, they bought 100 atlanteans (mostly metal sections, a few alexander) from SBS, converted their front to alexander R style with electronic route display.
they were subsequently retired in 1997, with some becoming training buses, some being sold to south africa and some scrapped.
The Atlanteans CityBus bought from SBS were of the Alexander SB-Type bodywork. 'Network 26' was displayed on its sides, and the front was changed to R-Type. A handful of original SB-Type was also acquired exclusively for training purposes, and no cosmetic changes were done. One sole R-Type Atlantean was also acquired as a Training Bus.Originally posted by sir_peanuts:actually no, those in the photos are not the ones sold to hong kong.

i see... the sole R-type (no. 699) wasn't allowed to serve on passenger routes cos its upper deck height didn't meet requirements i think.Originally posted by Superbus:The Atlanteans CityBus bought from SBS were of the Alexander SB-Type bodywork. owned and transfer is 2 different things.
they're OWNED by Singapore Bus Service and TRANSFERRED around in SBS's Depots.
but if not wrong, its with HG until retirement. (service 323 is a HG service)
