Its just that with the new LTA rulings, private bus operators can offer bus services as well.
This new thread aims to disucss more on these private operators and their WAB buses. at current no private bbus operator have offered to run bbus route with WABs
the thread can also discuss on other Citybus WAB not from SBS or SMRTB
Already we know of one such unit in Singapore...
The Sentosa King Loong WAB
Operator: hmm issit Woodlands transport or Sentosa Corp?
Bodywork: pure China Bus King Loong (tied with Higer)
Looks like: one of those Macau King Loong citybuses.
however seems pretty rare to see the bus. Anyone knows when it comes out and what route in Sentosa? i have yet to ride it...
-------------
I myself have taken yu Tong coach in HK, King Loong coach and Dong feng high floor citybus. Must say that China made buses are very enthusing with their Cummins engines and ZF gearboxes.
A nice feature of the King Loong coaches is that their doors have this sort of air sealing effect when it opens and closes. the coach also auto level down and up when doors are open. real cool to ride.

That PA8031M is a Spare Bus and is parked at SDC Depot on weekdays. It is used to relief the heavy passenger loads on Public Holidays and Weekends from Dolphin Lagoon after showtimes. Do note that it never comes out that frequently.
Newspapers have reported that most private bus operators are not interested in taking public bus routes when LTA opens up next year...they just wanna do the premiums in the morning/evening peak and that's all because it simply isn't worth it. The profit of running the premium routes are horrible too with the ERP upon entering the CBD...
LTA needs to do serious reworking for the ERP system for such buses, which'll never happen.
It was in the papers a few days back, lazy to do a scan.

Aiya, looking at their fleet...makes me wonder how they can handle loads like the ones on 851 if they even get such a route
The current ruling on "cannot purchase 2nd hand buses from another operator" also applies to the private bus co.s now ar?

Sentosa Development Corp. Don't bother finding this bus, it really counts on luck, although I have taken it twice, haha.

Why do they need to tie it up with Higer when Higer belongs to King Long ?

Some ST Article in the Home or Main Paper this week. It's about the premium bus services. There was a short snippet on the opening up of bus routes next year too.
