Why must 972? I think if implement 960A to ply Orchard and loop at Suntec, it would be better for pax to choose 960/960A from Esplanade there to W'lands, plus it could help out 700A & 190/190A as well...
Can make 960A as a normal day svc like 960, with same time slot as 960 for departures... At least in the North, pax can choose to either go Bugis by 960 or Orchard by 960A... Then, for the town area pax, they have another alternate route to Bt. Panjang...
No need for BSEP 972 since they don't have BSEP bendies for the job...

Do you think it is agreeable that 960 should ply Orchard using the current route of 700/700A from Whitley Rd/Stamford Rd to Bras Basah Rd/Whitley Rd and 700/700A should ply Bugis in the same fashion?

I'm actually thinking which is route has the least pax, via 190/A Stevens or 700/A route using Newton Circus, cos if lesser pax, means more pax can board the bus from town to Bt. Panjang..., No need to really cramp jam with those usual 190 pax which are heading to CCK everytime...
I prefer 700, 700A, 960 to stay as it is, but with 960A,, since it goes to Orchard area instead of Bugis/Little India, likely more seats are available to accommodate those Somerset/Orchard pax...

Sorry if what I'm asking if it's irrelevant to your topic...It depends on how long is the distance from Bukit Panjang Rd to Orchard area...but don't forget that 700/700A also plies Petir Road which will actually affect the timing. The estimated timing for both 700/700A and 190/190A to travel from Whitley Rd to Orchard Rd/Bras Basah Rd and vice versa is roughly the same.
That's why I suggested 700/700A and 960 to swap routes between Whitley sector and Bras Basah sector (such that the bendies can be utilised on these portions as well), although from what I always see, the bendies are occasionally meant for Indians that travelled between Kranji (after Woodlands Checkpoint) and Little India area.

Hmm... Swopping them seems not reliable as 960 is the main and direct svc for those workers, if 700/A is to ply there, as being a WAB svc, it'll have more rigids than bendies to meet the quota, so in my opinion 960 should stay since it has a large fleet of bendies to ease the crowds... If there's 960A, the workers can save their money from transfering to another bus svc to Orchard area, and for us Wlanders, at least we also have an alternative to travel to Orchard instead of cramp jam in the trains...
And since like you said it might be around the same travelling time, i think using 190/A Stevens Rd would be easier for 960A since 700/A via Newton Circus to Orchard also have 171... This makes it even, with 171 & 700/A using Newton Circus, while 190/A & 960A using Stevens Rd...

I'm talking about 190, if you don't realise, mister.

Service 915
Reminds me of the dead TIB915T
The West Loop probably won't have much demand during off-peak hours (at the industrial areas), and I think that it would be better to link the industrial areas directly to Marsiling MRT (or even Kranji MRT!) to provide the workers quicker journeys between home and work. Otherwise I think there is no need for this loop.
The East Loop on the other hand will probably be quite successful, given how 169 can be very crowded in AM peak hours. Routing wise I would suggest the following:
Admiralty Road West > Wdl Ave 4 > Wdl Ave 9 (skipping the sector back to Wdl Ind Park E5, E7, E8, E9)
And also I will number the service 967/968 (ie. a trunk service), just like 964. Cheers!

This service should be introduced for AM and PM peak only, so S-shift buses are used. I think west loop also it will have good pax from WDL Ave 1 to WDL MRT as it covers lot of HDBs and will be a good alternative to 912. East loop in fact will have only uni-directional loading, though the loading can be very high, giving relief to 169.
Also, a service should be introduced to cater to Seneko from WDL that will give relief to 856 + direct connection to WDL MRT as most people for Seneko take either 169 from Yishun or 856 from Marsiling.
This should also be only Peak service - maybe uni-directional like 881.

I guess fleet add to 856 will do.

I think there's no difference adding fleet and introducing new services.

Introducing new services means more planning, more arrangement for new service, more familiarisation, and more manpower.
Originally posted by SMB128B:I guess fleet add to 856 will do.
856 does not cater to the entire area of Seneko where 881 plies. Also, 856 goes to Woodlands via Marsiling, which is quite a long distance. 856 buses are also always crowded, filled to the brim inspite of bendy deployment. A new service will relieve the load on 856 and also provide improved connectivity. Anyway, this service can run only uni-directional during peak hours, so won't require intensive resources. It is okay even if they number it as 169X and goes to Seneko.

972's fleet should add 13 BSEP Enviro500NG and even 4 MAN NL323F to do the job.
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:Totally agree. Some people keep insisting 190 will not have much loading after DTL comes in. They fail to see that all those in CCK/BPJ who use 190 will still have to rely on bus/LRT to BPJ and then take DTL and transfer to Green/Red line for Orchard. Or will have to transfer from DTL 2 to DTL 1 for Chinatown.
If there is a fast service like 190, people would prefer taking it than doing these many rounds with trains. So 190 is here to stay and also the loading, and hence LTA better fix this service.
190 will be a stable loading after DTL opens. It will not be totally disgraced to LTA after DTL opens.

Still up to the passengers to choose... Faster by train likely expensive... Slower by bus is likely cheaper...

Also depends where the passenger wants to go. If wants to go to Orchard road from say Tech Whye, it would be better to take 190 direct than take LRT --> DTL --> NSL. I guess from timing perspective will be faster given 190 is express w/ good frequency and cheaper.

The route from Punggol to Yishun is fine - very unique but from Yishun onwards to Thomson total copy of sv 851.
I wouth rather have this service start at Sengkang and go via Punggol, Seletar to Yishun Ave 1, 6, Yishun Ring Road, Yishun Ave 2 and then to Sembawang Interchange.
