What do you do in a SIT test?
The recruits are divided into small groups and they will go through several stations at each of which they'll be asked to perform a specific task. At the stations, the recruits will take turns to be the leader and his job is to organise his men to complete the task at hand. The recruits are assessed and interviewed by a reservist lieutenant and marks are given.
I think its important to show not only that you can be a good leader but also that you can be a good follower as well. Anyway the above info is based on my personal experience 3+yrs ago, not sure if things have changed leh.. -
Your in luck; I just came back from my SIT test yesterday. So here it is...
The SIT test is a 3 day outfield test conducted during BMT. It is a test that asseses your ability to lead and/or carry out tasks under stress or difficult situations. U will be joint up with other platoon mates to carry out 6 missions a day.
Each detail is around 12 pple from 4 platoons. You will be assigned a role in your detail. Roles include: Medic, LAW (Light Anti-tank Weapon a.k.a 2nd wife), Claymore (remote detonating explosive), Mine, Demolition, Navigator and Signals. Throughout the SIT test, one of your coy's instructors will follow your detail to motivate u'all, ensure order, safety and act as a second accessor.
On the first day of SIT test, u will learn rope skills (Very impt!! needed in all missions!), and your assigned specialisation e.g. for LAW u will be trained to handle the weapon. The second day, u will set off with yr detail for your missions. After the 1st day ends, there is an interview with the accessor, who is a reservist 1st Lt officer from ABSD. On the end of second day there is a peer evaluation that lets u grade your detail mates. -

Casevac under fire, section movement in hostile territory, i.e constant "Arty" bombardment..Etc.

such missions is to cross a simulated river given a number of logs that are simply not long enough to reach the other side, etc etc.
Anyway, SIT TEST is classified confidential and not to be openly discussed. -

I did so much but I still end up in sispec. They must be smart can tell I wayang.

no, everyone gets to go for SIT test.
and please don't wayang so that you can get to sispec or ocs.
just be yourself. the last thing you want is becoming another incompetent commander who will be f*** by your men in the future.

When I went into service, I wasn't really concerned with things like ocs or sispec or enhanced bmt or whatever. I just took things that came my way and I say I got through it pretty smoothly, 2/1/2 years passed like a breeze.Originally posted by sidestep1984:haha

no worries. if you sign on as a combat specialist, you'll almost certainly go to sispec, coz' i haven't met anyone who signed on but did not go to sispec yet.
but if you sign on as a combat officer, then you'll have to work harder to get into OCS coz officer selection criteria is more stringent.
yes, when i'm in bmt in 1999, everyone gets to go SIT test, unless you OOC or what. dunno if it changed now.....

ahhhhh...well...i got SIlver for NAPFA and graduating in the 22nd(crosses fingers..results better be good arh..bopian if have to stay back again..)...

You'll only go to Enhanced BMT if you have diploma or A Levels, otherwise its normal BMT. As for whether you're confirmed a place in SISPEC or OCS once you go for SIT test, the answer is no! In fact the majority of pple who go for SIT test end up as men. They gotta maintain the officer:specialist:men ratio...
Anyway SIT test is only one of the criteria they consider for OCS and SISPEC lah. -

SIT Test is usually conducted after field camp.. the latter of which is in the the 7th week if u're direct enhanced batch and 12th week if u're the PTP/BMT batch.
