With SCDF lor... teach them how to fight fire, rescue ppl, administer first aid. Seriously speaking, thats why we really need in the face of uncommon and unconventional warfare. Extra manpower to hold rifles and dig trenches ... too much of a luxury.

While I appreciate his patriotism for his adopted country, I wish to remind him that he is actually protecting the fat cats more than his loved ones in doing military service.
The only time Singapore is worth dying for is when the PAP is no longer in power and a Scandinavian-style liberal regime set up.

well. i wish to remind him that although he won't be able to volunteer for NS, he can do the 2nd best thing, namely participate in the other 4 aspects of total defence, namely Civil Defence, Economic Defence, Social Defence and Psychological Defence.

Admire him. But our ministry is still no ready for people to volunteer. Age is a problem? Can we ask for cease of reservist at age of 30...since 30 cannot join army leh..
