Swimming for Female / Women Regulars ?

My cousin just graduated from uni and is considering signing on as a regular. But she is worried that she might not get into OCS cos she doesn't know how to swim. Is that a requirement

Weird. Don't they need to know basic survival skills? I thought swimming would be one of it.

She will learn basic military skills. Then she will go on forth to her skills whatever she intend to sign on to. And our army do not fight in waters.

though it is not a requirement for service/technical vocation, knowing how to swim breaststroke 50m during BMT is a basic requirement for combat vocations.
ur cousin just grad? advise her to try to work in the civilian sector 1st before considering MINDEF/ SAF. it's not as what as she think it is...

She's considering that as an option but needs to more info to make the decision. Also kind of worried that she might be stereotyped as a tomboy or butch etc, then might have problem getting a bf later.

how do u guys feel when (if) u find out that ur officer can't swim?
imagine doing combat swims and seeing ur officer wearing a white tape over his helmet.
noting wrong with not knowing how to swim , but at least try to learn it in your free time ya?

I guess she's average-looking bah. But beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
I don't think there's alot of female regulars in the army, right? So are they mostly tomboys or still feminine? Will the training make them "tougher"? -

if u r lucky, some pulau tekong recruits enlistment timing collide with the female recruits enlistment intake timing as well. go have a look. from some understanding, most have ncc/npcc past, knew some regimentation...

Is there a "standard formula" for promotion for female regulars? Say what are the prospects of being in a combat vs service unit?
If she signs on OCS, would she automatically be posted to combat units after she graduates?
