u officer or spec?Originally posted by allentyb:i don't give a rat A S S to cookhouse food, i don't EAT at the cookhouse, unless its friday, because ITS western, and in the past, i buy my food from the MESS
usually, there is small opening at the mess window, so we buy food from there, technically we are not inside the mess, and i am a clerk, so oh well, and we usually eat our food outside the messOriginally posted by hao_hao:u officer or spec?

Have you tried army cook food before? If you have you would not say that SFI food sucks. Cos when you compare head to head, the SFI food is definitely better and it comes with more variety. Granted, SFI food can be bad sometimes but it is still better than army cook food.Originally posted by hao_hao:actually not much of a diff.... sometimes SFI food sux ... whilt army cook food aleays sux
Make sure when that happens, it better happens after 2009...Originally posted by stookie:SFI contract expires n SAF decides to cut cost n go back to the good old days where NSF cooks will cook for us army guys in the cook house...
good idea?
n not only that, SAF decides to lay off those camp cleaners, sweepers etc.
Then some people will be vocationed just to clean toilets, offices and sweep the camp area in camp.
Then e mart auntie is now replaced by NSF cashier
good idea?
Then like this, with the cost cut, SAF might increase the NSF allowances
must fall in every morning in full battle order consisiting of frying pan, cooking pots, forks and spoon for first parade right?Originally posted by hao_hao:maybe they should set up a SAF kitchen unit .... n haf kitchen officers n specs as chefs .... while the rest all jus help around the kitchen

auntie would probably be bored to death...Originally posted by KoolKool:Ask Navy people. I think they still have Chefs on board.
Can't imagine the cookhouse auntie on board ship with so many guys for days.

I disagree - dispensing with contractors mean that there is less of an incentive to cut costs on the part of the contractors. So it can mean higher quality food.
Of course the Cooks must be trained properly and there must be a qualiied chef type to update the menu constantly.
Oh, and the SAF might want to make the Cook's course a little easier. Last I heard, the SAF cooking course is the hardest course in the army and no one has ever passed it! [/quote
Hardest course in the SAF? Wow,must have a special tab for those who passed also [/b]
You forget that there is no reason for army cooks to be bad. What if the money given to SFI is used to properly train cooks? I think there is a possiblity that quality would improve.Originally posted by Theballstopshere:Have you tried army cook food before? If you have you would not say that SFI food sucks. What must one do to pass? Get Michelin Stars?Originally posted by scabstermooch:I'm sure there was a tab. But you won't see anyone wearing it because as it said, no one ever passed the course.
There is a reason my friend, and that is the same reason why SAF is a cock-up organisation - the lack of motivation. I highly doubt that even if SAF cooks are trained well they will cook well. The reason why paper work gets so long to be processed in SAF is because a lot of these stuff are handled by regulars and NSFs who are not motivated.Originally posted by scabstermooch:You forget that there is no reason for army cooks to be bad. Btw, I have tasted food under the old regime before - there was sand in the vegetables. Obviously someone didn't do a very good job of washing the vegetables. But like I said, there is no reason for low standards.
before that they must draw it from the Panskote.Originally posted by Gordonator:must fall in every morning in full battle order consisiting of frying pan, cooking pots, forks and spoon for first parade right?
