Far Far away in the South China Sea yah,
I left, a girl, with tears in her eyes
i must go where the brave men die yah......
Yup, i sort of enjoy it
For me it was when i got to fire the 1st round from my M16 during BMT
BAMZ! Cling! Cling! Cling!
The sound of the expended round falling onto the cement floor got stuck into my head till now
After that, it was a series of firings and multiple expended rounds dropping onto the floor
Now i understand why people like shooting
WoW Its Sounds Fun In Ns Haha
i must go where the brave men die yah......

Depends dude.
One thing for sure is that BMT is the same for all combat fit recruits. What is your PES?
After your POP you would have a 1 1/2 week of break (a.k.a block leave) before you receive your posting. If you passed your IPPT and opted for command school, you should be able to get into OCS/SISPEC, lest you fail your peer apprisal badly. Otherwise, you would be posted into a unit if you opted to be a man. Everyone's NS experience (after BMT) is different, so can't say for sure whether you will continue to chiong sua or get a slack vocation.
Anyway, just relax and take it as a break from your studies. 2 years will pass by in no time at all.
If u think it's fun it'll be fun.
its a great national duty for the country...though overemphasis of women charter has been biased on men...we should do this for our own personal honor and glory...no matter how much bruises one incurred.....
I had been an OCS trainee for 9 months in SAFTI...the camaraderie was the highest i ever experienced in my teenage life ...though i had my injuries sustained during a live firing enemy ambush simulated warfare...falling off a steep hill at Tekong and a rusty iron picket almost pierce through my right eye ..about 1 cm away....it hit my nose ridge and slanted with blood covered all over my face...there was no anaesthetics then in Tekong and only at 6am the ferry came and my nose was rectified without any surgery back to normal in 15 minutes at Changi hospital...my platoon comrades and commander was all working hard and fast to save me...and deeply touched till today....
I passed out anyway...and was later commissioned an infantry officer...ever since then i have often stressed the importance of comradeship in any warfare.....it is a crucial part of any leadership...
SOC is best.
i would personally encourage the continuation of NS for our country....a reading of the Japanese Occupation in Singapore is useful for one to understand its importance...whether there is a govt or not....do it for yourself and your family

Sucks being male haha...:P
@kiraM
NS BMT is not fun. it's tough. if you already do NCC in school or equivalent, then it should be fine. if not, hope your fitness level is high, then it should be ok. why only ok and not easy? cos you have SOC (std obstacle course). clearing obstacles in bloody heavy combat gear.
otherwise, get ready to suffer. the good thing is, you wont die. you are allowed to report sick if you are really sick. if you are not really sick, dont report sick. if you dont come back from the medical doctor with a minimum Attend B cert (excused from some forms of training), you are going to get into serious trouble.
the most important thing is actually not fitness but attitude. do BMT like you want it. enjoy it. cos if you dont you are basically in jail. look at it as stepping stone to better things. for example. if you do well in BMT, and your studies are ok (JC) then you can aim for OCS (officer training) which leads to more NS pay. since you are going to suffer you might as well get more pay for it.
finally, use your common sense. dont do stupid things in BMT (like picking up smoking from bad influences). learn to work as a team and meet new friends.

*Clap Clap*!
For once I thought you were against the idea of National Service *cause of your nick lar!*, but I see your views are just what we needed to ensure this country stay safe.
It is not National Slavery, but just defending what you love. Don't do it for the Government/FT but do it for your family.
I'm going in by the end of this year. Perhaps I can see you in there KiraMikoto!

We are just doing what is required of us, and it is like an ancient tradition.
Sparta man reaching 18 will pick up his own weaponary and report for duty to fight for his country, we are just like that also! *Using Sparta cause it just make NS sound more Cool. LOLX*
Be thankful to your dad, brothers, friends who are doing this. For they ensure you are safe. =D
skali open letter " please report to pasir ris camp" =X
ok bmt is kinda sucky.. really.. your life is probably worse then a dog, because even going to toilet also need to ask for permission. you have no rights, you have no say and you have no life as a recruit.
the bulk of ur ns life and what will determines whether its fun or not will depend on your unit. dont use bmt as a gauge for ns life..
