According to the SMC website, Dental officers are considered as MOs too, however as there are so few dental officers around its hard to find out if disruption is available for NSF.

i emailed SMM and they said dentistry MO is only available as a reservist course and can't defer. oh well, back to training =)

is it possible for recourse personnel to go ocs? i ooc-ed due to pneumonia during bmt (enlisted april batch) and should be going for recourse batch in october.. or will they just send me back to service side after my recourse..

there are many in this forum who have aspirations to sign up in the saf and im very glad there are these people.
i hope those who are considering to sign up know wat they are getting themselves into.
signing up to be an officer takes a special person, tats why during bmt, the pc will ask who wants to be considered for ocs. recruits are put thru scrutiny all the time, and leadership glimpses are recognised , even those who admit to not wanting to be considered for ocs will be drafted simply becos they showed leadership qualities.
every cadet has to go thru a common triservice course simply becos all terminology is anchored to the army. all navy, air force pers need to communicate on a common ground as these arms primarily support the army ops in wartime, heck arty, engineers, all work to support the armys mission.
hence all cadets while in ocs go thru a rigorous fitness regime and are taught the basics of up to the bn lvl of ops. any futher specialist training or sudden realisations to move to s3, s2, will come after the usual assessments fm oc / co lvl. wat im tryg to say is while the individual may want to be an int offr the superiors may not recommend.....
nowadays , the army has very specialised duties and asking to specialised becos of interest will definitely be entertained by the services.
any way , an intelligence officer in the army.... very siong , in all lvls fm pc (scout), s2, (bn), bde (as2, dys2, s2) all lvls of work an int guy has to go thru to be somewat only armed wif a little knowledge to operate effectively is extremely tedious. its easier to be an s3 than s2 any time !!! -

went for interview with 1 LTC... 1 Maj .... 1 Capt ... mmm..
too bad they not offerin IO as a five year contract... its on the savers contract instead.. -

i went for that interview and it turned out pretty well.. it almost looks like they were really gonna accept me from what the feedback i recieved from them...
until the part in the end where i asked them whether it was a 5 year or savers contract... they told me its a savers contract... thats when i started to hesitate... and told them i will reconsider... hee.. everyone thought that it can be on a 5 year contract...

savers contract means u serve till 45 years old... and get all the retirement.. savers... and all the plans they have for u.. almost similar to the premium plan...
cos during the recruitment talk.. the recruitment officer say we can sign on short term ( 5 years ) for officers vocations... but he did not specifically say it does not apply for IO .. haha.. thats why everyone blur during interview -
I think you might have been mistaken about the savers contract.
Savers contract simple means that if you serve till 42 or 45 years of age, you will be getting the full retirement amount that the organization (& you) have been saving up for this period.
That doesn't mean that you must serve till that age. You can still leave if you want, of course, the amount that you would be getting would be much less than if you had stayed till retirement.
I would like to qoute from one of the Army recruitment officer: 'This is like a loyalty scheme, the longer one serves, the more one gets back in payment'.
I think this is what the recruitment officer meant when he told you that you can sign on for a short term (5 years). -
i got a question to ask.
if a CPL were to be posted to OCS as a cadet. must he take off his CPL rank and can only wear his 1 white bar? can he wear his CPL and white bar together? -
He can only wear the one white bar epulette even if he's a 3SGT or CPL.
Know this cuz in Air Wing got some ex-sgts who sign on as Pilots so they dun wear their previous ranks. -
