yes, there are a few cases. how they done it?
easy....
but to stay "awol" for the rest of your life is difficult, because it simply means not returning to singapore for the rest of your life. Unless you managed to get a totally different identity. -

The most legal way....
get out of singapore before you are 11.5 years old, get a citizenship elsewhere. This way, you are not liable for NS and you still can come and go out of singapore.
The "shady" way,
get out of singapore before you enlist, you are technically not awolling, but you are in breach of the enlistment act. You get into trouble upon your return to singapore.
The "stupid" way,
while serving NS, take leave to go overseas, and never to come back. Awol 6 months and you face desertion charge.

it involves $$$, a specialist, and a story.
those free (paid by saf) specialists is unlikely to recommend OOT.
so you gotta pay some $$$ to see your own specialist that backs your story. but chances to succeed is low. unless you have genuine problems in the past that you can "rekindle" -
Yes there are many cases of AWOL I have been seen on parade states but some had been catch and send to DB.......

DON'T.
But if you really want to awol, just make sure you are not in a active combat unit.

your freedom is slightly longer in support units, but still, it depends on your MPO and other superiors. Whether or not they are really doing their job, its are sooner or later thing before they take action.
All i can say is.... in suport units, they idle for a while first before taking action. -

yeah for e most stupidest way e part are u referring to exit permit...

some of the key reason why pple AWOL is simple
the NS allowance low and pple dun receive a salary!
$500 only..if pple were to graduate..they would earn about $1.5k
and opportunity cost of 1k go wherE?
i suggest the govt spend more on improving NS pay!
Even israeli and korean compulsory ns pay it's troopers more decent pay!
Last time the NS excuse is used because singapore is poor..
should stop now..
furthermore..i think insurance payout for deaths should be MORE!
Ministers earn $1million SGD per year yet heng yeow peow who died $30,000
And we should give insurance to more NS Man should they die in training!
Nevertheless, our NS allowance don't match our cost of living!

Suggest we lower down the cost of living like last time and...increase pay..
1 Car or motorbike cost so much nowadays!

But my advice is, don't AWOL. If you AWOL, you will not be able to get back to Singapore unless you are willing to enter DB and thus, extend your NS liability. -
even if you wan to keng....it is the most dumb way to awol....you just extend your ord date if you awol

1) Sign on as policeman or civil defence.
2) Make yourself physically disabled (paralysed) then you will be PES F. But bear in mind that it will affect you forever.
3) Go for a sex change -

hm.. somehow i just have this hunch that this guy is just entertaining us and himself, and he does not have the slightest intention of doing all these.
in any case, teaching servicemen and male citizens how to siam ns by any means, including awol, is certainly not the intention of this forum.

As for desertion, there should be some differences compared to defection and the charges should be lighter compared to defection. -

you were asking how to flee overseas...
first, so long you meet the immigration requirements overseas, that country don't give a hoot whether you awolled. That is to say, be a PR or Citizen of that country, and live there happily. While serving NS, just apply leave and get exit permit.
If you want to return singapoer, just get a different identity, but be forewarned, there have been cases where even ppl with different identity were caught, but were let go and banned from entering singapore as there are no solid case against them.
also, if singapore come to find out that you are in a country that supports national service and at the same time has treaty with singapore.... singapore will request your extradition. So flee to country that do not have extradition treaty with singapore or does not support the idea of conscription.
k... i think i better stop here. I am not teaching you how to flee lah... just that there are "legal" but difficult ways to siam NS the "legal" way... if you really want to go thru the trouble. hahaha.
