1,000 job vacancies at Home Team
SINGAPORE: Hours after Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said hirings will be brought forward as part of counter—cyclical measures, the Home Affairs Ministry said it is looking to fill about 1,000 vacancies.
These vacancies are in all home team agencies — the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Police, Civil Defence, the Prisons Service and the Central Narcotics Bureau.
The largest number of vacancies available is in the Police Force, where 470 positions are available, followed by ICA with 300.

I'm graduating from NP next year. I got 3 main concerns, please kindly address to them.
1. How Good is "Good Eyesight" ?
My left eye degree is 425, right eye degree is 500. What are my chances of applying? Should I laser my eye before applying?
2. I'm 21 this year becoz I progressed from ITE to Poly.
Are my chances of applying slimmer priority to my age?
3. Are we suppose to go through any interview or test?
1. the "good eyesight" requirement is ambigious, but as a rule of thumb, should not exceed 500 degree for each eye. this is the closest source regarding eyesight i can find. http://www.spf.gov.sg/epc/vsc/explan.html
2. nope, age is not a problem, though i will not reccomend people over 40 to join.
3. yes, there will be interviews, medical examination and pyschometric test.
i got few questions
1) wats the job scope of a policeman like wat they do everyday
2) wats the retirement age of a policeman
3) Are there any retirement schemes or plans for a police after they retire
Thank you for your post
1) After a police officer pass out of training, he or she will be posted to land division HQ, NPC or specialist unit. most police officer get posted to NPC. there, you will patrol the area and to response to any emergency calls. In the event you come across a crime scene, you will need to make an initial assessment of the crime scene, interview witness, and take photographs and bag evidence.
http://www.spf.gov.sg/career/po_training.htm#top
2) retirement age is 50 for police officer.
http://www.spf.gov.sg/faqs/career_po.htm
3) under the INVEST scheme, from the 7 year of service onwards, an amount equal to 7.5% of your monthly salary will be accredited to you, which will be given to you upon retirement. there is also an retention amount on top of this 6%, equal to one month of salary for the first 6 years, 1.5 month for 7-10 years,

In short, the money after you retire is good.
there are also schemes to help you start a 2nd career as you near retirement age.
"Hi guys, just wish someone can ask my question. if i want to join spf, i need go through teh test first, then after that is panel interview. if i can pass the panel interview, the last step is body check up. may i know how long do i need to wait for the letter after body check up??"
It may take up to 2 months.

sorry, i not expert on medical check up, so no idea on the 120/80 thingie.
it is highly unlikely to flunk out after passing the panel interview.
den den work how many days a week
Originally posted by Warcounter:den den work how many days a week
will work exactly 1/4 of the time.

with longer hours when you work as compared to conventional work hours.

1/4 of the time means for one week, 24 x 7 / 4 = 42 hours.
of course, have to report early go off late, and plus inservice... the idea is there...
