Thanks. My daughter is 9 years old now. Indeed, she is very pretty, bright and versatile. Her grade was no. 1 in class last semester. I think sheÂ’s really a Bodhisattva child. She is my happy thought.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Congrats, namelessness, for having a child. In history there are many 'pray for children' cases and it worked, those that pray for Bodhisattva child also get Bodhisattva child. So I am guessing your child must be very bright
Agreed. When I was young, I ate all those herbs and some I even liked. In the last 10 years, my body gradually rejected those herbs naturally. Now I can still eat them but IÂ’d rather not.Originally posted by An Eternal Now:As for 'spiritually rich diet', from what I know its best to avoid the five pungent herbs -- garlic, chives, leeks, onions, and asafoetida. It causes passion, anger, and some spirits like them. But dharma protectors hate them. Those who ate them better rinse their mouths before stepping into the monastery. But the Buddha did not specifically teach us to eat certain types of food, because the Buddha and the monks have to beg for alms and eat whatever food was given as they are renunciants.

Of course, chanting Da Bei Zhou will work also. However, the best way is to be An-Hsiang then you are with all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.Yes, every Buddha and Bodhisattva is part of our True Self.
Merry Meet An Eternal Now,Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Hi, I'm currently sick now.... and I would like to share with everyone the teaching on Medicine Buddha. I have chanted over 108 times... within 20 minutes my temperature has a 0.4 degrees drop. My temperature had been rising since early today.

Much of these are beliefs... in a future lifetime... you may know what are the truths and what are the lies....Originally posted by An Eternal Now:From the Mahayana (including Vajrayana) point of view, Bodhisattvas are completely non-dual and therefore does not discriminate Nirvana over Samsara. This view is also presented in the Nagarjuna's work I sent you.
Which is why it is possible for Bodhisattvas to be reborn again and again to complete Buddhahood. Those following the path of self-liberation (attaining Arhantship) will enter into Nirvana and not be able to attain the perfect, complete Buddhahood.
The 4 Noble Truths, teaching that 'Life Is Suffering', although found in all traditions of Buddhism, is actually a path of 'self-liberation' catergory. On a Higher level Life is not suffering, although for most sentient beings this is true in the sense that Suffering is an inevitable part of life, like for example the 8 distresses to speak of.
I do not know whether you have been enlightened. If you are a liberated person then either you have entered into Nirvana... or you came back as a Bodhisattva. Do you doubt that there is liberation? There were thousands of Arhants during the Buddha's era, and there continue to be Arhants living in the world now. I know and met many liberated beings and bodhisattvas, some of them are my teachers. I also do not doubt the existence of Buddhas. It is not a belief but it is a path. If you want to walk the Bodhisattva path, it requires deep Bodhicitta aspiration and great compassion for all beings.Originally posted by longchen:Much of these are beliefs... in a future lifetime... you may know what are the truths and what are the lies....
Buddhism is no longer for me... I have too much lifetimes with this religion/belief system...how do you know that i have not enlightened before in a previous life... too much truth mixed with beliefs... good luck with your final liberation/cessation... if there is such a thing.
Why chant 108 times? You need to understand the reason why. It has a meaning behind it. Pls read http://www.jenchen.org.sg/vol4no4c.htmOriginally posted by shade343:Hmmm...why do you chant over 108 times? I thought the maximum times you should chant is only 108?
Hmm...I was taught that mantras are chanted to a maximum of 108 times...same like the Great Compassion Mantra...Originally posted by An Eternal Now:Why chant 108 times? You need to understand the reason why. It has a meaning behind it. Pls read http://www.jenchen.org.sg/vol4no4c.htm
But there is nothing wrong in chanting more than 108 times. Some people chant 10000 times, 20000 times. That would be even better (as long as you have the time and it doesn't cause trouble in your work/family/etc)
Up to you whether you want to follow the numbers strictly Most importantly is whether you are sincere and your mind shouldnt be wandering elsewhere thinking about other things.Originally posted by shade343:Hmm...I was taught that mantras are chanted to a maximum of 108 times...same like the Great Compassion Mantra...
