    • Hi!

I am new to this forum and basically running through these boards to find most dicussions about recent movies to date. Apparently there hasn't been many movies of the romance genre to be released recently and its kinda disappointing being the hopeless romantic that I am.

Hence, it struck upon me it would be a good idea to talk about past favourites. I'm sure everyone has one for the ages. Would definitely like to see what people have on their lists of favourites. Better yet if I've yet to catch it, snag a popcorn to sit down to one day. Would love to hear from all you peeps out there.

For the record, this is my list in no order of merit.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

      Serendipity

      My Sassy Girl

    • Hey Ferret!

Actually, almost half of the genre consists of romantic comedies, its impossible to miss. I prefer those that are intellectual and thought provoking, but then again who says the two cant exist in a single movie.

And to add to the list,

10 Things I hate About You

      Lakehouse

Love Actually (can't believe I miss this one initially)

    • Casablanca was good.. Blaine telling Ilsa to go with Lazlo while he stays behind to an uncertain mess.. because all the things don't mean a hill of beans was about the most romantic thing ever...

for outright mayhem in love movies, none come close to True Romance... so much mayhem and blood and gore and violence.. yet such a tender love story

I agree with you on this one. Mostly silly, sometimes too much bubblegum pop that basically gives you diabetes. But there are great flicks out there at the same time

Go catch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Starts slow but very very satisfying. Its not the usual lovely dovey kind where you get honey stuck behind your teeth.

Hmmm 17 X 5 so Im thinking it works out to around 1 1/2 hours. Oh well makes time at work pass by faster anyway.

Don't you get sick when its always the same lovey dovey thingy? I actually prefer melodramatic films AKA tear jerkers, but then again there arent many good ones. Its funny nobody mentioned Titanic yet. I personally didn't really like it. I find it overhyped.

    • I'm not voting for Lan Yu. But it's only because I haven't been able to get my hands on it.
