Many of my peers went into teaching. And many of them went into that not out of genuine passion, but out of a desire to get a recession-proof paycheck.

And I do know that many of them are the incompetent/irresponsible/apathetic ones. For example, many of them didn't get an Honours for their degree because they were slackers.

No, seriously. The truly hardworking/responsible/intelligent ones become engineers and scientists, not teachers.
