  back in sec sch i recall almost everyone goes 'normal' except for the nerdy girls who have their skirts almost up to their ankles. i doubt wearing shorts is so common nowadays.

  anyway what's your generation like? [around late 90s or smth?] actually all these very much depend on the uniform itself. the shapes can be very obvious for 1 thing. maybe that's why u know lol. but usually the older generation is more 'conservative' compare to those a few years younger and more.
  
  the only exception comes for the gals during PE? or after PE liao take off shorts and wear back skirt. =x
