Based on my budget i'm thinking of buying small car below 1.3.I've family of 5 including my maid.Need the pro's advice on the fuel c,prformance and reliability.Auto trans is preferred as my wife possess only 3A.Futhermore i still own a seldom-used motorbike.
Kia Picanto 1.1
Hyundai Getz 1.1/1.3
Suzuki Alto 660(Heard it can outrun Chev Spark)
Proton Savvy 1.2
Mitsubishi i 660 turbo(Expensive insurance?)
Perodua Viva 1.0(One guy driving this baby when he race with my friend's Getz 1.4 sia.Quite powerful for a 1 litre car)
Honda Fit... quite spacious and its a nice ride.. try asking for one, if financially is ok for u..

wats ur budget?
How about Daihatsu Sirion 1.3A at 47K?
well, TS mentioned FC, performance and reliability.. the Fit seems to really fit his requirements, no pun intended. And you'll be glad for the extra boot space for those shopping trips as well.

In what way is a Chery A5 small, and below 1.3? In what way does the A5 have good FC, reliability or performance? Please do take into account the TS requirement..
China made car are out of the question,I'm not biased but i rather use Malaysian car better.
Fit is good but beyond my budget. My 3 kids are still growing,My house bills,Maid salary and levy,Etc...I need a car for the purpose of going to JB(Mum in-law hse) during free time.
BTW is it true that certain dealers/shops do give away free gift suchs as DVD player touch screen,Reverse sensor,Tinted film,Sport rims?My colleague just buy Mitsubishi i with all the free gadgets from a shop @ Ubi.Price is @ 31k for OPC.
Going JB?
Are you sure you wanna drive mitsubishi or other cars to msia? I will strongly recommand Fit/Jazz, as more space, and fuel efficient. The boots space is resonable compared to others too....
Hi, honda fit is a good choice, petrol consumption low, easy handling and less problematic cos im driving a honda fit for more than a year. Maybe you can try look for 2yr old honda fit or jazz opc, cos brand new one cost about 38k. Only thing is honda jazz or fit suspension tends to be softer. Also u can try toyota sienta 2nd hand, good family vehicle. Sorry, i dun know ur budget, but seems tight. Pls dun get korean or china cars.
I hope the basic Jazz prices will be lowered down this year end..Thanks everyone for their views.
Suzuki Swift?!
Since budget 15k-26k,Fit is out.
I ever sit in picanto & getz.Quite spacious for the car of these size.Reliability should be no problem for korea car since alot on the road.
Your friend getz 1.4 outrun by Perodua Viva 1.0 is due to Auto vs Manual & weight difference.Small cc car try to get manual if possible cos FC better & more powerful but since your wife is auto license & these ideal is out again.
I ever own a 1.0cc car before.Alone still ok but if fully packed can be out of breath easily.
Try to avoid turbo car.Maintenance, insurance & FC higher since saving is your first priority.
Try all the car u mention except turbo car.So u got a better picture cos everyone ideal is different.U are the one who drive everyday so must be your pocket & driving comfortable first.

for your consideration bro
me currently driving a kia picanto 1.1A OPC
2nd hand 2 years old
avg FC 10.5 km/l
best FC: 12.9 km/l
worst FC: 9.9km/l
comments: serves my purpose well, although FC can be better but i guess its around that range for auto cars
dun get too scared by other people opinion that the picanto no power cant climb slope or what, so far i managed sheares bridge, mscp, telok blangah hill etc etc with full load 5 people and groceries at the boot with no troubles at all. no such thing as engine stall cannot climb or roll down.
power and pick up wise, it is very good for its class already (1.1L). of cus dun expect it to be as fast as smooth as bmw, toyota or what.
it is a very good choice for a first car

Ok Bro will consider that also,Actually its the second time i owned a car,The first one was eons ago where i drive a 1990 Toyota Starlet which i rated one of the most reliable car..I always ride bikes compared to car.So which bank do you loan from?GE or Maybank? Can use CPF statement?
u can try getting a hyundai getz..i think is much more better then pincanto..u should go down an get it a try on the car i s much more better..if u want a second hand car,i think u should get a toyota.it give u less problems but u must knoe how to look out for wear and tear to cut the cost from the saler..haha..

mine from Maybank. the dealer told me that all Kia cars do by Maybank one.
CPF statement sure can, juz let the dealer do for u, but it wouldnt hurt to have your payslips with you.
Getz.. ya. I think that Getz has bigger interior than picanto and the specs are roughly the same or slightly better. of course the price is "better" too..

is it? i heard some caveats about the Getz also. my bro ever went to test drive one and he said the engine very loud. have u seen the 3-door getz? hmm looks strange to me
i got a friend driving proton savvy. not bad i sat in it before. the interior comparable to picanto and according to him the FC is quite good also range from 14-16km/l !!
maybe u can consider also

average u get 12km/l? means the best FC you get can go beyond 12?
i also dunno why the FC is not very good, and im not exactly an aggressive driver also (but picanto leh, how aggressive can i go? :) )

Yours is manual 2.0 civic? If it is,i wont surprise u can get 11 to 12km/l in FC.
