Does anyone here think that LEDs (found on C751B trains) should be added to the train when it is refurbrished? I think they have good potential.
Originally posted by tintinspartan:The main refurbishment works are often carried out inside the main workshop. Those who went to SMRT Open House last year may know about it.
If you could see a car or 2 from your MRT train under a small shelter near to the Train Washing Machine, that's where part of the works are done. You could see a refurb train at the inspection bay everytime you pass the depot by MRT.
For those who spotted half of an MRT at the stabling yard nearest to the maintanance crew yard, that's where they store MRTs which are undergoing repairs or refurbishing on Weekdays (Morning till late afternoon) when there's simply no space for it.
Seeing half-cars doesn't mean they are undergoing refurbishment my friend. Probably you saw 107/108 in that shape thats why you happily assumed it was undergoing refurbishment. And so I was quite puzzled when I saw it on passenger service, unrefurbished and with the NTUC ad somemore 2 days ago at Bishan NB towards Yishun.
Originally posted by deskoh91:can someone tell me which part of Bishan Depot does the trains undergo refurbishment?
passed by the depot on NSL many times but never seem to see it. or maybe I am not looking hard enough.
Tracks 10 - 12. They always have closed shutters so it is not possible to see refurbishment works in the depot unless they bring the train out for a run. (Apparently they have stopped doing test runs outside depot for now).
Every morning at around 6.15am it is possible to see trains doing test runs by using the test track linking T10 T11 and T12. But as it is in the dark... lol.
The best way to see it is to have luck. Sometimes newly refurbished trains are parked at the parking yards just beside CTE (the one closest to CDGE-BRBP) with a red roof.

using old announcements nia. sounds super nice and loud. today i kept getting C651s. 4 of them all new announcements. the sound of the cheena alien is officially ringing in my head now. 229 230 is the only C651 left without new announcements. 327 328 still uses old announcements on NSL but new announcements on EWL. not sure about CG shuttle.
i haven seen 101/102 for a long time.
with that i officially boarded all refurb trains. and 1 thing i find, they stink. i prefer C751Bs

April confirm will be 099/100 le. Unless they refurbish it super-fast and it comes out before 1st April.
Beyond that I'm not sure... my instinct tells me it's either AVIVA or NTUC. 107/108 MIA after that special appearance on NSL one fine day.

Does anyone know what time of the day it is easier to catch trains with old annoucements?

Which is the train that you claimed to be using old annoucements? If it is a newly refurb train, it is a good sign that the new annoucements are temporary and SMRT might put back the old annoucements on all trains.

It could just mean that they haven't installed the new announcements. Doesn't mean that they are scrapping the idea of new accents.
097/098 is the first refurbished train to feature NS Army Career interior advertisement. All their windows screen panel has horizontial advertisement poster on Army Career.
Boarded 097/098 on NSL during evening peak. The problem on LED for door-closing that is flashing on both sides wrongly have now has been fixed. The LED now is being flashing on the correct side where the door is closing.

The entire annoucement system is upgraded during refurbishment so I believe they will have to reload the annoucements after refurbishment.
Walau how you guys keep track one ah.
For me, I just take note of different train types, car numbers and new/old annoucements when I take the train. I am not as crazy to camp at stations to board every single refurbished train.

089/090. sian NSL still uses Juanita Melson but EWL the cheena mama over take liao

Board train to work or play. Take down number in the car. Repeat pattern. Sooner or later will finish de. SMRT only got 106 trains. Whats more I take EWL and NSL everyday, so confirm got chance to board all the trains. BTW hardcore EWL permer 17/18 on NSL today.
013/014 still running for passenger service? Wondering when 013/014 will be undergoing refurhishment....
And 115/116 really need to be undergoing refurbishment soon as the 115 carriage is very noisy whenever 115/116 is accelerating or moving along the tracks. Can hear bang bang bang underneath the floor.
I saw 013/014 using old annoucements on Changi Airport Extention but used new annoucements on NSL recently.
