I remember having to do that for my third-year project. We all had to rank each other's performance in order of merit. For example, since there were seven people in my team, we each had to rank each person's level of effort from 1 to 7, 1 for most hardworking, to 7 for the least hardworking.
The problem is.... what happens if everyone sincerely was putting in their very best effort? We could not give everyone the same rank.
So I just ranked my teammates from 1 to 7, and under the 'Other Comments' section, I wrote, 'Given a choice, I would have given each person '1'.'
