Steven Gerrard warns 'wounded' Gunners - you're next in line for a Liverpool cup final defeat

On a roll: Liverpool's Steven Gerrard celebrates his side's defeat of local rivals Everton
Wednesday, 10 February 2010
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has insisted Arsenal are there for the taking in his side's seventh 'cup final' in as many games.
The Reds are now just five points behind the fast-fading Gunners in the Barclays Premier League and play them at the Emirates tomorrow night.
Liverpool are back in the top four but Gerrard now believes a top three finish is not beyond them - especially with Arsenal having taken just one point from their last three games.
The Anfield captain told TalkSport: 'It’s a massive game for us and the target is to try and get a result where we can push on and try and get third place.
'Obviously our target is a top four finish, but if Arsenal give us any sniff of catching them then we want to grab it and hopefully that will be on Wednesday night.
'We’re treating every game like a cup final at the moment because we’re desperate for this top four [position]. We understand the pressure coming from Manchester City, Tottenham and Aston Villa, and also teams behind them.
'Arsenal will be a bit of a wounded animal but we’ve got to do what Manchester United and Chelsea have done to them, which is to give them very little space and hit them on the counter attack.
'Everyone knows that if you give Arsenal time and space they will crucify you.'
Gerrard added that although Liverpool have been impressive in the last six games, they are still not playing well.
'I wouldn’t say confidence is sky-high in the dressing room but it’s on the way up and improving.
'We’re on a good run but we’re not playing terrifically well - the last few performances have been more about being solid defensively and nicking important goals. We can certainly play better.
“There have been games this season where we have been beaten and not shown enough fight, enough good attitude and commitment but I don’t think anyone can criticise us over the last six games for the level of commitment because every single player in the squad has rolled his sleeves up and everyone is fighting for the same thing.'

he starts stinging at their wounds every single time he has a chance to. look at every of his comment it would be rare if you could find one without any flaming. wait, you don't even have to look at his comments, just look at his nick. what does losing matches have to do with being a gay bastard? plus you can't even spell!why not target hull, they have been terrible this season too. portsmouth too. why not them? why liverpool? because they are a 'top four' club, everyone is putting pressure on them to win. of course, they did say they want the 20th title and all, but which club doesn't have dreams?! and look closer to comments they said, they probably said they COULD not they WILL.

Why should he get banned? Hes speaking the truth.
Liverpool is only good at talking crap. They talk big when they're winning and talk even more crap when they're losing.
Last season they said Man utd are underserving champions just cause they won man utd but look at where these jokers at at now.
They're just a club full of big egos. All talk no action.
So glad man utd broken even with liverpools epl record. When was the last time you heard these jokers bring up their past epl record AHAHAHAHAAH.
At least those team who are performing poorly aren't as loud as liverpool.
Liverpool likes to draw attention to itself and deserve all the verbal humiliation they are getting. More please.

Yep. Before Man Utd won the league last year, my liverpool fan friends (losers) kept telling me how good liverpool was..how much trophies they got, titles etc. Always fucking harping about the past how great they are, but look at the scousers/jokers.
Look at the fucking headlines, Gerrard a fucking scouser, a fucking diver, saying these kind of things? They should just shut up and play. Rafa Ben likes to play mind games but always in the end hit himself hard in the ass, every game make notes like got use liddat. Win man utd big hooha, but lost to fulham 3-1 i laugh my fucking ass off

come on, guys, give Pool some slack la.
they had a miserable season, so when they string a couple of wins together, naturally, they want to bring that confidence into the next game, mah. So surely, they will try to galvantise themselves hor.
Don't forget Pool still the most successful English Club in Europe with 5 UCL cups leh. Never mind, they never won a BPL title since its' creation.
And I think all clubs' supporters have some black sheep la. Don't generalise them leh. Even MUFC also have 'naughty' fans la.
Chill..

Personally, last night win give Arsenal a rather good chance for he title... Looking at their run in fixtures, It's a lot easier than United's or Chelsea's...
And yeah, last night match at the very end of it, Pool should have got at least another free-kick at the edge of the box as Fabregas raised his hands on purpose and one of his hand actually block the ball from going over the wall... I believed the referee saw it as this being a free-kick and there were no other distractions around but somehow didn't make any ruling... Pool players were still protesting at the end of the match as the hand ball was like a minute or so before the end... It was a rather funny sight to see the Pool players protesting to the referee then Fabregas just walk pass them and shake the referee's hand then walk away while all the protesting was still going on...

my point is. i don't see how moron could be associated with losing game. your looking at fans in general and i doubt most of them are drunkards. your making nothing out of your sentence.
but i do agree SOME liverpool fans are overboard. and the reason for liverpool talking so much, 'attracting media attention' is because the media GAVE them the attention, do you really think they want paparazzi harping about their recent lose?
and, yesterday. imho, n'gog is an invisible man, fab should be red carded. look at his attitude throughout the game man. william gallas is better.

Howard Webb 'crazy' not to award Liverpool penalty for Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas handball
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has blasted referee Howard Webb's "crazy" decision not to award them a penalty in Wednesday night's 1-0 defeat at Arsenal.
Confrontation: Gerrard made his feelings clear to Webb after penalty rejection Photo: APArsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas admitted after the match he had handled Gerrard's stoppage-time free-kick but Webb did not spot it.
Although television replays suggested the incident was outside the area, Gerrard was left fuming at missing out on a chance to salvage a point and maintain their unbeaten run.
As a result, Liverpool's winless streak on Arsenal territory still stands at a decade.
"The referee told the Liverpool wall in the first half that if anyone raises their arms above their waist he was going to give a penalty," said the England midfielder.
"So for some crazy reason he didn't give it. He told me after the game he hadn't seen it. "It was unbelievable and I can't believe he didn't see someone raise their hands in the wall.
"We know over the course of a season sometimes you will get decisions and sometimes you won't, but something so clear as that was hard to take, especially with the referee being Howard Webb.
"I would say he is one of the best referees in the league so I am very surprised he didn't see it."
