MBS To Citylight shortest Route

Hey Bros, Met a screwed up and rude ang mo on sat.... Anyway, pick them up at about 6.35pm from MBS TW1 and I just proceed to use ECP, Rocher Exit to avoid the ERP charges. The bloody ang mo kpkb and say he want to use the republic bolvevard via the helix bridge where there was an ERP gantry. The ERP charges at that time is $2. So which is the shortest way? Anyway partially my fault also, coz i thought they were tourist and assume no need to ask. But the angmo attitude damn cheapo and sound like i gonna be a millionaire by going a longer route.... And still ask for discount....

2 Options:-
Route 1
Travel straight... towards Millenia Tower (** Bayfront Ave )
across the bridge into Temasek Avenue.
1) Turning Right at Junction of Raffles Boulevard & Temasek Avenue into Repulic Boulevard and
left (after) Marina Center Bus Interchange T-Junction.
2) Go by Repulic Boulevard linking Repulic Ave (behind Nicoll Highway)...linking at with Crawford Street & Lavender Street.
3) Turn left at Penhas Street (in front of Fragrence Hotel Lavender) and another left at Horne Road & final left at Jellicoe Road. CityLights Condo.

18:05 - 19:55 ERP $1.00 Bayfront Ave to Raffles Ave 4.4km approximately 8min. 18:30 - 18:35 ERP $2.00 ECP Benjamin Sheares Bridge to Rochor Road 5.5km approximately 9min. Both depends on traffic flows during that specific time. Info extracted from MyTransport.com and IPhone Google Map.

2nd Route (more traffic)
Same...
1) Bayfront Ave
2) Temasek Ave ...
Passed by Millenia Tower, Centennial Towers, Conrad Hotel into Roundabout ...
3) Temasek Boulevard...
exit into Rochor Viaduct.... (left after Suntec Tower 2).
4) Rochor Rd.... all the way straight until Victoria Street.... then turn Right.
5) Travel on Victoria Street.... linking up with Kallang Road,
6) Turn left into Horne Road @ the corner of V Hotel & Lavender MRT stn.
7) Turn Right into Jellicoe Rd = CityLights Condo....

ang mo mentioned route using republic boulevard is the shortest
he is right to ask for discount since you go longer road as going by ecp also need to pay erp.
remember - LTA rule always use the shortest route - since pax no ask , you no ask pax. you go longer road give little discount to avoid complain

I don't blame you. Sometimes at the moment when pax say the destination, our mind focus on 1 particular route, only later we realise maybe got better way.
Looking at it now after consideration, Republic Boulevard is the shortest I think, but like you I would have probably used your route too, because that would be the 1st one to spring to mind.
In your case, I would probably agree with the pax that I was wrong. Explain it nicely and just ask him what is his average fare and charge that, or just strike a dollar or 2 off.
I've encountered some cases like yours, but luckily for me most pax will pay the fare and accept I didn't do on purpose, some will even give tips. Ang Moh like that one, those who stay here long, like to think they know everything and want us to follow their instructions. They even give tips, but must follow their way one.
Oh well, this is what we have to accept as occupational hazard I suppose.

thanks bros for the reply. Ya i know that it is my mistake for not asking. And I also realised that via ECP also have ERP. But the ang mo knn, like i wanted to cheat him... During the entire duration, keep harping on why you want to go this route and etc....Please take note that I have already assured him that he can just show me the direction and I will just follow. Keep KPKB like i will huat big time by going this longer route.

that u-turn very jialat one
drive straight and head to ecp faster

what I am saying is after picking pax from tower 1, you need to made a u-turn on the main road ...pass the exhibition, casino side before u can reach raffles avenue
