Democrats start work in Tanjong Pagar GRC
Singapore Democrats
THURSDAY, 29 SEPTEMBER 2011
The SDP has begun work in Tanjong Pagar GRC in preparation for the next general elections expected to be held in 2016. While the date is still a full five years away, the party realises that it is important to start early and build itself up in the constituency.
It is important that we get to know the constituents there and allow them to get to know the party. Tanjong Pagar GRC was uncontested in the last elections held in May this year.
A team of Democrats were on hand last Sunday at the ABC Market at Brickworks to do our walkabout led by new CEC member Mr Bryan Lim together with former candidates Dr James Gomez and Mr Mohd Isa.
There were several new members and volunteers as well. One of them was Mr Eugene Lim who said: “It was a refreshing experience. The response from public was very positive and encouraging. It's important to help spread the word and let the public know that SDP has not gone into hibernation after the GE.”
We met one Indian man who said that the PAP has failed to look after the needs of the poor, especially when some parts of the constituency are old and delapidated, housing elderly and low-income families.
He added that these families do not know how to seek help and that no one has taught them how to do it. The SDP's Community Services Subcommittee hopes to follow-up on this by organising training sessions to help poorer residents to approach the respect agencies and to articulate their concerns.
Another resident said that he has not seen the MP for the area, Dr Chia, and is happy to see SDP around.

If lky is still alive and running in the next election, the SDP has practically no chance of winning.
SDP can still fight for 49% of votes.

0 % chance of winning, high chance of getting 45%, as good as giving him a slap in the face.
Esp if Dr Chee is running there.
u mean a healthy fit and lean person cannot beat a zombie in a poll?

Regarding Desmond Lim, I have a contact within the SDA who says there are a lot of rumours that Desmond Lim is the secret mole for the PAP.
That's why he was in the three cornered fight with PAP, WP, SDA in Punggol.
I don't think he is a zombie.
He probably is still sharp, just doesn't give a shit about other people. He thinks he is so good and everyone is ungrateful. And currently laughing all the way to his grave because:
no one can defeat him, not even challenge him in court.
wife not around to see him get demoted.
he feels he has escaped disgrace unlike Dr M.
for decades he got people not only to keep quiet, but to believe his shit and pray for his good health.
even if people are not praying for him now, they won't be able to touch him up to the day he dies. in other words, he has pwned them.
Just like how you feel good when you bluff someone you despise until it is too late for him.
Maybe 2016 election Tanjong Pagar may have 3 cornered fights...Reform Party...
SDP fast worker. They got a lot to do to build up their image.
Democrats visit Tanjong Pagar GRC again

The Singapore Democrats continued our groundwork at the Tanjong Pagar GRC, the second time in two weeks. Members were out chatting with residents on Sunday at the Tiong Bahru food centre and market. Danny, our Democracy Bear, joined us for the walkabout (see photos).
The weekend before, we were also at the Sembawang GRC continuing with our walkabouts there. This is all part of our ground campaign to get to know the people better and to listen to their concerns.
The next general elections may be years away but the party is not wasting any time by laying dormant in between the elections. We have been actively engaging constituents since the GE in May this year.
Tanjong Pagar GRC was not contest in the last elections and has remained so for a few decades. This will change as the SDP will be contesting in the ward at the next GE.
From the water-tank issue in Marsiling to bringing basic necessities to needy families at the Sembawang GRC to block parties to football competitions to reach out to younger Singaporeans, members and volunteers have been keeping thenselves extremely busy with our Road to 2016 campaign.
These activties have been driven by our Community Services and Ground Operations groups.
Apart from our groundwork, other subcommittees also been hard at work. Our Policy Studies subcommittee is making its final revision to a major policy paper on ministerial salaries that will be released soon.
Also in the works is SDP's alternative national healthcare plan drawn up by our Healthcare Advisory Panel which we are looking forward to launching in 2012.
Our Training & Development unit will conduct a workshop for party members this Saturday which will be followed by a BBQ. The workshop is aimed at updating members on developments and preparing them for the campaign ahead.
To support the myriad of activities, our Fund-Raising group will be announcing a major event in the near future which we're sure will be of great interest to everyone public.
So the next time anyone asks you whether the opposition has gone to sleep in between elections, you know what to tell them about the Singapore Democrats.

LKY wont be around in another 5 years, but what if he is still around. this surely will be his last election, even if he is still around in 5 years time isnt it. surely he wont stand for the next election, as he will be 93 years old in 5 years time.
TP now under Chan Chun Sing after LKY stepped down as MM and quit CEC. I think the chances of LKY contesting again in 2016 seems rather remote given the current circumstances. For someone to serve as MP until he is 100, that is way too impractical.

So PAP paid for his deposit? Was his job to make sure Lillian Lee did not make any headway so that Mike Palmer could take over as House Speaker?

They did a good job against that gay cunt Vivian in Holland-Bukit Timah. Maybe it might be better to focus on taking him down.
Not to mention KBW in Sembawang ought to be walking on thin ice.
