AS WE welcome the Crown Prince of Brunei to Singapore, we are reminded of the strong bilateral ties between Brunei and Singapore underscored by the Currency Interchangeability Agreement.
Generally, while most retailers are willing to accept Brunei currency notes, my experience is that they do not accept Bruneian coins.
Would the Monetary Authority of Singapore comment if the Currency Interchangeability Agreement applies to Brunei coins as well?
Elgar Lee
confused with Malaysian coins?
Really ? I never knew that. Thanks for sharing. Personally, I think coins offer less mobility and efficiency if compared to notes. People prefer to use notes these days...
I think Brunei coins are acceptable since both currencies are interchangable. I did get some change in Brunei coins before and I used them too.
thanks for sharing. never knew that! kinda interesting to have our wallet full of brunei money yea. then go out shopping and everything use brunei money to pay
i bet most of us have never seen a brunei coin.
since the circulation here is very very low it'd be too troublesome having to explain to everyone who gets the coin that it is also legal tender.
Yeah..I think notes will be easier to identify than coins. due to the obvious difference in size. Hahaha. Imagine if you mistook a brunei coin for a malaysian one. You'll lose out on half the value lol. Sorry I sound incoherent :D

but Sg coins accepted in Brunei without problems.
Hahah really? :O
Then I guess the proportion of the coins in market is lesser now?
