A reporter sacked by The Straits Times last week is under police investigation over an allegation of underage sex, the paper reported Saturday.
28-year-old Eisen Teo was a Singapore Press Holdings scholar who worked for two school magazines published by the media firm, Little Red Dot and In.
In its report, ST said Teo was fired on 18 January this year after an internal investigation. He had been questioned by police in December.
According to his LinkedIn account, Teo previously attended Dunman High School and the then-Raffles Junior College. He was also the valedictorian of his university cohort, majoring in history at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He graduated from NUS in 2009.
Late Friday night, Teo, who is married, deactivated his Facebook account, as well as his blog, and restricted his tweets, which were previously publicly visible.
Twitter was abuzz with mixed reaction to news of the sacking, with most users reacting with shock. -

There is merit in protecting the identity of victims, you know......

Even without releasing their names, releasing other details can lead to other people being able to put two and two together.
