If you have a soft spot for fast food, you can now literally keep it close to your heart, thanks to a new line of jewelry.
Starting from tomorrow, Kentucky for Kentucky is launching a collection of 14-karat gold-plated necklaces made with the real bones of a KFC fried chicken dinner.
According to the company's website, the unusual jewelry was made using a complex and time-consuming process of painting the bones with a varnish, covering them in copper and then gold electroplating each one.
Just coating them in a thick layer of copper took three to four hours per bone, and all 20 necklaces took a month to complete.
Louisville jeweler Meg C was responsible for turning the fast food leftovers into wearable bling, which cost $130 for a small necklace and $160 for a large.
'You can rock your chicken bone with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt or your little black dress,' she said of her creations.
'That's the great thing about gold, it makes any outfit look fabulous. And don't chicken bones just go with everything?'
This isn't the first novelty item inspired by KFC that Kentucky for Kentucky has sold. In November, the company - which specializes in products that promote the bluegrass state - launched a line of scented candles that smelled like fried chicken.
The other candles were designed to smell like Kentucky's official soft drink, Ale 8, and the Kentucky Derby.
