Hi there! In the midst of the durian frenzy this season, I would like to share my bad experience with this particular durian stall that I patronised a week ago.
And this was the letter that I sent to them.. which till now, I have no reply and this is really upsetting me.
Dear whom-it-may-concern,
I would like to express my utter disappointment in the durians that you sell. My supposed happy occasion turned out unhappy instead, after purchasing and eating the durians which we bought from your Trading 717 Durians, Serangoon branch at Highland Centre.
On sunday, after our dinner, we decided to drop by at your outlet after having cravings for durians and after hearing rave ratings of your stall, very excitedly, we approaced one of your staff and starting selecting the durians. We noticed that he was opening up the small durians, which were in a basket, for us. My father was certain that small durians would not have many seeds and asked your staff who reassured us that the durians would have many seeds. Hence, we did not pursue the matter further and bought six durians home for 55 dollars.
Upon reaching home, feeling excited, we started eating the durians. However, what we got was PATHETIC. Each durian has at most 5, SMALL seeds, and the least we got was shockingly, only 3 seeds for a durian which we paid an average of 9 dollars each. That would mean that each SMALL seed cost about 3 dollars. We could have easily gotten 3 durians for 10 dollars at other stalls but decided to buy the durians at your stall after getting commendations.
However, we were utterly disappointed, not only with the durians we bought but also with your staff who picked the durians for us. The least we could expect from him is HONESTY. He, I believe, being an experienced durian handler, would have the basic knowledge of the number of durian seeds in a durian. I would definitely not recommend your stall to my friends after this incident.Thank you.
Regards,
Amelia
So if you people out there are looking for really good durians.. I would not recommend this stall and in fact there are many other stalls, not as popular though, selling durians as cheap as 10 cents each! And in fact, after this incident, feeling unjust, I went around sourcing for good cheap durians and got a few at 1 dollar each and they were really good!
Enjoy eating durians!

Durian sellers don't care about your letters, they'll take them, realise it's not a financial issue or offer to rate them, and throw it away. I don't think they actually care.
That said, I think we should create a thread with a list of good and bad durian sellers so we know where to buy from, with comments on flavour and texture so that a person can choose a durian that suits his/ her taste.
