halal is a requirement for muslims which means that halal food is fit for consumption under islamic law.
in singapore muslims are a minority. but alot of food have halal certificate to ensure that the food is fit for consumption by muslims.
manufacturers hire halal certifiers to certify their products so that they can sell to muslim consumer, in other words manufactures pay halal certifiers to inspect their production to ensure that there is no "haram" substance. after inspection halal certifiers label the products halal. manufacturers do this to make sure that they expand their consumer market to include muslims.
or are manufacturers compulsory required by the singapore government to ensure that all non-pork products are halal?
if every single non-pork products manufacterers pay halal certifiers to get the halal certificate where does the money go to?
why must the products be halal certified so that muslims can consume when non-muslims are the majority?
do non-mulims pay the tax for halal certification?

no its not compulsory DUH.. but if they can capture a larger market by paying a bit more for the halal certificate, they wouldn't mind right? So it is up to the manufacturers. Some stalls even put signs that say No Pork No Lard to capture some share of the muslims market and avoid incurring cost for the halal cert. Some muslims do not mind and to them it is sufficient assurance. But there are some muslims like me, who feels comfortable only if there is a proper halal cert. The manufacturers are in no obligation to pursue the halal cert but at the same time they can't force muslims to buy their non-certified products.
if every single non-pork products manufacterers pay halal certifiers to get the halal certificate where does the money go to?
No idea. Probably MUIS. Income by MUIS probably taxable by the government.
why must the products be halal certified so that muslims can consume when non-muslims are the majority?
What a dumb question..
Whether the products are certified or not is up to the manufacturers and their business strategy to capture a larger share of the consumer market.. The "minority muslims" are not gonna put a gun to their heads.. You already answered your own question by your paragraph above..
do non-mulims pay the tax for halal certification?
WTFBBQ is this..
